Kelsey Grammer left Finding Neverland for his summer leave last week. It will be interesting to see how well the show maintains its current good grosses without one of its major name stars until September. It could be a good test/preview of its longevity potential.

^ His leaving was not well publicized, and even if it were, I highly doubt it would have much of an impact. Neverland has legs, Kelsey or not.

Yeah, those On the Town numbers are not really improving.

Granted it's still previews, but those Amazing Grace grosses do not look well at all.

Ehh...previews or not, an 18 percent anything...eek. If it doubles, they're at 36 percent of potential. Not looking good.

Great to see after 2 years that Matilda is consistently grossing more than Kinky when it was robbed for Best Musical & Score.

To be fair, Matilda beat KB both on percentage of tix sold as well as percentage of possible gross.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Matilda's theater is bigger by 36 seats...the potential isn't that much bigger. Besides if you wanna argue about gross fine. Matilda's capacity was 99.7% while Kinky's was 77.3%. And since Matilda's house is "bigger" it still managed to bring in more audience than Kinky when Kinky has a smaller house which should be much easier to fill, right?! I rest my case!

I am sure both shows Kinky Boots and the King and I are out by 4 seats, which should be reflected in the final gross. I would hazard a guess that Michelle + Mum + 2 daughters wouldn't pay for their tickets.

ZellMorrowsPledge, please don't argue with me when you don't know what you're talking about. Matilda may be doing better now, but they have a much higher weekly running cost and it took them much longer to recoup.

Also, it's not a competition.

Those are reflected in ticket prices the grosses are correct for both shows. There were butts in the amount of seats specified. A comp ticket would affect the gross and average ticket price, which I'm sure have been taken into account

"Amazing Grace" had the third largest difference in gross. Only "Lion King" and "Aladdin" had a bigger change. Not enough. But if they add that same change each week... In a month they are profitable. Just sayin'

Just to make the MATILDA/KINKY BOOTS argument more interesting- KINKY BOOTS has a gross potential of about $85K more than MATILDA given that the Shubert has hundreds of balcony seats, that of course are generally priced much lower, while the Hirschfeld features only orchestra and mezzanine seats. The actual capacity difference between the two productions is only eight seats per performance.

KB and Matilda are two of my two fav shows so I am happy they are both still doing well two years later... (and staying out of the argument).
