Dang, you found us out. Whatever will we do?

The design, direction, and choreo were lacking, which is exactly why The Outsiders was able to beat it for Best Musical.

I don’t agree at all, I liked the simplicity in the staging to balance the fierceness in the writing.  I liked how vanilla it was, and yet so impactful.  It kind of reminds me of Norma’s songs in Sunset Boulevard.  The lyrics are kiddie and it’s sung by a strong character.

Apparently as a 65 yo gay man I am clueless.  What number was so fabulous that we as the big gay musical machine willed “The Outsiders” win the Tony for Best Musical?

Well, without the BWW moderators effectively laundering Flash's reputation by continuously deleting all of their worst ignorant and bigoted statements, I'm sure it'd be a treat.

Are you kidding me?? It’s all anybody talked about this spring, was the rumble.  People kept going on and on and on about it, my goodness.  The gay men I will site are friends of mine and all the comments they made, and the ones made on the pervy broadway forums.

"Job's numbers are pretty soft but they managed full capacity so they're probably hoping for word of mouth to help pick it up (from people I've talked to, there seems to be a lot of intrigue around the show so we'll see how it ends up doing)."
i really haven't been paying close attention but average ticket price of $69. So they have been doing a lot of discounts for this show?? right? I know it's a two hander with low running costs but still...

lol the pervy broadway forums! im missing out on so much imaginary stuff.

but AGAIN it is so insanely offensive to reduce what is without a doubt one of the most cleverly staged fight scenes on stage that many of us have ever seen into a gay gawking situation. its hard to get angry or offended because you are obviously incapable of understanding how disgusting you are but its wild that EVEN WITH a fulltime BWW intern whose job it is to remove your most explicitly offensive stuff, your bigotry manages to slip through.

(and i thought suffs was clever/fun/moving in all the ways Outsiders are not, i dont think its so nuts to prefer one over the other)

I think the overall lack of shows is helping most struggling shows now. We're down to 25 shows in total running on Broadway. The next musical to start is MATTRESS on July 31. Nothing else starts up until September.

Wait wait wait wait Suffs was the best musical of the season? This is a laugh I didn’t realize I neededuntil now. Thank you for that

They love to be contradictory for no sake other than to cause a commotion.

lol yes, you’ve got be. That’s exactly my goal here. But in seriousness, how is Suffs are better musical than The Outsiders?"

This wasn't directed at you stagepotato. Was just responding to your comment.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
