I have actually, yes! Sometimes it depends on the show though for where to sit depending on the set or key action in the show, so I tend to ask incase there's something I can't see from a view from my seat but yes, it's my go to site!

I have to admit that I don't remember a lot, but that I loved Malkovich, who got some pretty bad reviews from some critics (there weren't as many in those days); he wasn't even nominated for a Tony because of the whole question of whether he was overacting or not. Joan Allen, who I have always liked, won an undeserved Tony; I always assumed that it was a consolation for not winning the Tony the year before for The Heidi Chronicles (she lost to Pauline Collins, who was greatin Shirley Valentine, a very good role in a one-person play.

I dont remember if it was a good play; I do remember that it was a veryenjoyable evening in the theatre."

I can't speak to Allen's performance because she was gone by the time I saw it (saw Eric Roberts who was superb, IMO opposite her replacement , Lisa Emery) , bu there's no way it was a consolation win for losing for The Heidi Chronicles as Burn This was the 87-88 season & Heidi was 88-89.

For those who have seen it, should we expect a best revival nom for the show?

Thank you for saying this! Honestly, I am often hesitant to post here because it seems like posters are frequently attacked for the tiniest things. I see about 10 shows a year in New York (plus a handful of the ones that tour), but often feel like if I don't have complete encyclopedic knowledge of any and every show/actor that I'm going to mention, then I better not say anything because someone will call me out on some aspect I wasn't aware of, probably in a really bitchy way.

I completely agree with you and this is why I've scaled back on posting my own show reviews. Online bullying seems to be an acceptable part of this board overall so I get why posters are hesitant to share. I did enjoy reading your review though and hope you'll continue to post them. I'm seeing this show next month so sounds like I have something great to look forward to.

Based on early previews, I can't imagine it not being nominated (and a likely front runner), along with noms for Adam Driver, Keri Russell and Brandon Uranowitz, as well as Natasha Katz' brilliant lighting.

Caught this last night - have to say its the strongest play of the season so far - solid direction, great performances, and a wonderful play.

Adam Driver is truly revelatory and should absolutely snag the Tony this season, sorry Bryan Cranston.

Keri is FINE - at times uncomfortable on stage - but fine.

David Furr is good, but a bit actor-y. He's loud and a little too concerned with the audience.

Brandon is perfect, per usual.

It's a wonderful play and a solid night - the audience LEPT to their feet at the curtain call - if there was one play I'd recommend so far this season, this is it.

I saw the original production in 1987 and while I liked the performances, I quickly forgot about the play. It lacked the wow factor of dramas such as M. Butterfly and I didn't think it warranted a revival. I was somewhat wrong. Even though I liked the play better this time (simply because I don't remember it being this funny), it's still the performances that make it worthwhile.

Adam Driver was great to watch and much like Eric Roberts, played a perfectly charming brute. He's physically imposing and displayed the right touch of awkwardness moving around the stage trying to find a comfortable spot to deliver his wildly comic observations. His character, Pale, is big and stupid, and if that's your type, then Driver is your man. Solid acting all-around but some of his emotional anguish didn't exactly land.

Kerri Russell, as Anna, was the weakest of the ensemble. She plays a dancer and I didn't believe for one minute that she's ever danced, not even in club. She was wooden and stiff and delivered all her lines in a very obvious "theater voice" that sounded an octave below her normal register. She never quite embodied the role of a grieving friend and had zero chemistry with David Furr, her onstage lover.

Furr was ok and his performance improved throughout the night, but Brandon Uranowitz as Anna's roommate Larry almost stole the show. He was hilarious in a role that could have been played for camp, and his scenes with Furr are some of the best in the play.

It was a good evening at the theater and I recommend it. The 80s music before the curtain was a nice throwback.

WhizzerMarvin may have met his/her match when it comes to BWW reviews, or very close. And that's a VERY high bar to rise to, I must say! The above review is absolutely spot-on, how I personally felt about the show and individual performances. I am just not as articulate. I have seen Twitter feed comments use the same 3 words re Brandon's performance: "stole the show!" and agree 100%. However, notwithstanding the other actors and performance reviews by others including myself, I'd still highly recommend seeing this play.

I saw this last night, and I found it to be remarkable. The four actors are truly outstanding. Adam Driver enters the play in a whirlwind of imposing energy which he maintains throughout the rest of the evening. Having seen all the plays open so far this season, Adam Driver would definitely get my vote for the Tony for Best Actor. Brandon Uranowitz is absolutely hilarious. Keri Russell did not seem uncomfortable onstage at all to me as others have mentioned earlier in previews. She really held her own, and I found her performance to be thoroughly engaging. All in all, this a really great night in the theatre. Easily one of the better play offerings this season.

I saw this last night. I find Michael Mayer's direction to be either hit or miss... and this seems somewhere in-between. This production is ALL about the men; Keri Russell seems to have been directed to be as bland and one-note as possible. Her performance held absolutely no surprises, and her hand gestures became amusing in their repetition (I do love her TV/film work, though). But the men! Adam Driver is giving a performance that constantly surprised me. Sexy, dangerous, unpredictable... exactly what the role needs. Brandon Uranowitz is hysterical and touching, and David Furr gives a solid performance. I appreciated that the audience did not give anyone entrance applause, but found it odd that most scene endings don't have a solid button (especially the end) so applause between was scattered.

I sat in the front row of the Dress Circle almost all the way over house right, and did not miss anything. The pre-show music could have been one of my mix tapes from 1987, and it set the time and mood perfectly.


I saw the original production in '87, but oddly all I remember of it was that Joan Allen ALWAYS walked on tiptoe. Because her character was a dancer, and that's how all dancers walk? It was distracting.
