It's another new screen name for someone else that has been on here under another alias."
They make a new username every month but remains the most annoying poster here. Everyone is on to you Crusty Bagel, BroadwayFlash, etc. it's really pathetic how desperate you are to interact with others around here only to be exposed immediately with each username you created. You're the ultimate troll. Go over to Reddit or ATC instead.
Just scrolled several pages back to find out who ACL was referring to and saw that the replacing Billy thing had been mentioned. Apologies for bringing it up again. I skimmed for it ahead of time but not well enough.

Maybe they’d cost less, but who could bring in more?"
You said a prior Emcee, Orville and Adam have things to do which only leaves the UK Emcees which all means a costly international hire. So no...

Exactly - although John McCrea is, ironically, stateside right now gearing up for the return of PRINCE FAGGOT.
I've never seen Marisha Wallace on stage and she's receiving raves and love her voice from the sneak peaks so it has perked my interest to see her not Billy!
As for the two emcees that are alternating since Billy seems to be staying away and out of the show who would you pick? Marty and David both seem to have a lot of fans and are great from what I've heard. Who's your favorite of the two?

Jake Shears may be available.

It does seem like Jake Sheers is returning to close.

Reminder that having more followers on Instagram is akin to being slightly richer in Monopoly money.
Shears and Scissor Sisters have been around for over 20 years and have a devoted queer following with some mainstream success. I don’t think that will help save this already sunken ship, but referring to them as niche is unnecessarily reductive.
To Angel: What’s the source on Shears returning? I don’t see anything online even in terms of rumor.
Shears and the Scissor Sisters just toured with Kesha. I’m not going to pretend they’re A-list superstars and they’re certainly no longer at their late-00s, early 10s height, but Shears has a following and would only really be in the show for like a month before it closes.
But swapping in Shears or anybody else new to the Broadway production seems silly at this late point. Nobody short of a bonafide A-list name will revive the box office, so if Porter does leave, why not elevate one of the understudies, get some good press out of it, and go out with at least some good vibes.

Based on their $nacks-and-drinks for everyone/atmosphere be damned approach to front of house, I can’t see ATG being that altruistic.
They also seem to be running this bonkers cheap deal on Audience Rewards right now (for performance 9/9 and later). I’m almost tempted to jump on it.
Also, re: concessions - When I went Wednesday night, there were apparently single digit reservations for the Pineapple Room experience and so they offered it to everyone on line for only $25! (For those of us who took it, we got a nice preshow lounge, a free cocktail, and a private bathroom for intermission - worth it for that price)
Jake shears? The man who did those awful lyrics in Tammy Faye?

What does that have to do with his performing abilities…?
Anyway, the shows not about to spend ANY more money on new cast members.

If they’d be paying him the same as Billy, or less, then they wouldn’t be spending more.

Huh? They’d still have to pay Billy too, so…yes they would.
Several others and myself discussed this upthread. If he is let go for legitimate reasons (IE not showing up to do the job) then no one would be paying him.
Do people out there really think you can take a role, not show up, and make a profit all the while?
Even after a certain number of sick days are taken by an actor, they start docking further missed days from your check.
He’s also costing them medical and pension while not being there for the job, and the understudies are being paid more than usual.
(How on earth have seven people like the above comment? If Billy is let go, he doesn’t get paid. Welcome to the economy.)
I’m uncertain whether Shears maintains a residence in NYC, so he may need to be provided housing.

Ask Brody Grant that same question. And Solea when she was in MOULIN ROUGE. It happens. All the time.

I feel the same way when I see a single person like your ignorant comments. Welcome to reality.

Didn’t he also have a very spotty attendance record in the West End…? The producers hired him for NY with that knowledge, so why would they fire him…?

Thank you for ignoring the part where I said if Billy gets fired, they don’t have to pay him. Good work.

It doesn't mean they were paid during those absences. Since Pfeiffer was out doing the workshop of Gun & Powder/Wanted, it seems very unlikely she was granted a paid leave of absence for a month. The production contract only allows paid leave for medical, bereavement, and accrued vacation time. Expecting a producer to pay a performer their full salary while they're off working another job for a month is entirely unreasonable- and I say that as someone who is extremely pro-labor.
As for Grant, well, it's very unclear what was going on there so I can't comment.
Edit: it's also worth noting that sick leave under the Production contract isn't just... as many paid days as you need. Sick days get accrued, and if there is a continuous string of absences over 24 performances, then the contract can be terminated by either party.

This is what I can't understand. Why did they even ask Porter to come over and do the role in New York? He got bad reviews in the West End and also had poor attendance.

He’s a headline act.
if he doesn’t go on stage he doesn’t get paid- surely you know that?
I think there is a good chance Billy does not return.
If he is sick, I hope they get better. Since Billy is HIV-positive, any illness can hospitalize them .
