Does anyone know if Kristin or Idina may come back for a limited engagement run for Wicked? I guess similar to the Broderick/Lane engagement for The Producers. I know it wouldn't happen too soon, but within the next two years maybe?

ehhh, I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt it.
but, you know, there was a time when I highly, highly doubted idina would do wicked in london... so.. :P
Never, ever, never, NEVER happen.
Didn't Cheno have some form of falling out with the producers? Or did I make that up?

Why do you doubt it? It would be crazy for them not to! Can you imagine how high ticket prices would go. They thought they broke records for the Producers stint, just imagine what Cheno and Idina could do. It would be insane. I'm not saying it should happen, I'm just saying that if I were a producer I would do it! But whatever...

Yeah, I can see how ticket sales are in desperate need of such a stunt.
It's not like Wicked needs it now or anything. They're doing more than fine.

No, thats not what I mean. Producers didn't need the boost. They just gave the audience what they wanted, and it sure as hell worked. I think your missing the point. These little teeny-boppers and their mothers would C-R-A-Z-Y
I'm sure one day they will do a benefit performance, but besides for that, they probably will not come back within the next 4-7 years.

I could see this MAYBE happening in a few years if the grosses ever start to get bad but even that's an extremely slim chance. I think once Idina's done in London she's done... unless they do some sort of reunion thing down the road like Rent/Chicago. As far as Kristin... as HoshiForever said, I don't think she's on good terms with the producers anymore so I doubt it even more for her.

Don't be coy, bernadette. You are too saying it should happen. You want it to happen so badly it makes you tingly in your tinklezone. You're pretending you don't care and I submit it's because you care very very much.
I am sure they want to get awau from Wicked. They both are doing so many differnt projecys and wil be fine without it!
People went to THE PRODUCERS simply to see Lane and Broderick. They were huge in the show, and were already household names before they starred in THE PRODUCERS.
No one knows who Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are. They are not those characters as Lane/Broderick were theirs. L/B caused a sensation. And I feel confident in saying that Menzel/Chenoweth did not do that. They did not make WICKED a success.

Not really Namo. I saw Kristin and was anything but impressed. Jennifer Laura Thompson clearly had the role wrapped around her finger and lot tighter that Kristin did. I didn't see Idina so i guess I can't comment. But from EVERY performance of Wicked I have seen (ie: Tony Awards, Today Show etc...) she has never been on key with her music. Her tone and support sucks and the reason she is always going flat is due to the fact that she always sings from her throat. So no, I wouldn't make the trip up there IF the did do an engagment again. However, am I curious to see the results of it if it did happen: Hell yes!

Kristin MADE Glinda.... no ONE has met those standards.

If you were to say, "the 2 original girls in Wicked," that means something to many people today. Anyone who has seen a Broadway show in the last 3 years probably knows about them or has heard of them. It would probably bring more people than you'd expect to see the show.
Kristin is getting bigger as a celebrity outside of Broadway. Idina is too. Not huge, but they're starting to make names for themselves.
I doubt Idina and Kristin will come back to Wicked. As people have said, it wouldn't make sense to bring them back. Kristin and Idina would probably demand outrageous amounts of money in order to be brought back. It also wouldn't be a good idea becuase in a few years, they will both probably be too old for the parts. If you can get past the age issue, then perhaps it's ok. I know Ana is a little bit older...and I think she's too old for the part.

You seemed like you didn't care for Kristen nor Idina's performance. Why would you care about how well they'd do if Idina and Kristen came back?

"No, thats not what I mean. Producers didn't need the boost. They just gave the audience what they wanted, and it sure as hell worked."
Wrong. The Producers wasn't doing anywhere near the business they did with Lane and Broderick...they WERE the show. Menzel and Chenowith did not define Wicked; Wicked succeeds just fine without them. If either were to return it wouldn't do anything more than the show already does.
"I think your missing the point. These little teeny-boppers and their mothers would C-R-A-Z-Y"
I'd like to kill the person who invented that term, especially since it makes no sense. But contrary to popular belief, Wicked's audience is composed of the same type of people you would find at Nine and Sweeney Todd and The Phantom of the Opera and Company and Mamma Mia, it does NOT skew younger. The producers had a survey conducted to find out this info, which apparently many shows are doing these days.
Yeah, the producers have pulled their stunt casting by having Idina do Wicked in London... They are already paying huge sums of money for that, why bring her and Cheno back here when the musical is just fine (finacially) without them....? But I must say, I would pay an outrage sum to see the OBC back, as long as it was the WHOLE cast, Norbert and Michelle and Joel too!! *thinks about the money she's spending to go to London....* And in Idina's defense, she IS doing other things like her solo album with Warner Bros. and Disney's "Enchanted" due out next year :)
Okay maybe, and this is a BIG "maybe," for 10 year anniversary benefit concert, Cheno and Idina could come back for one night performance (like Rent 10 year anniversary).
But other than that, no amount of money would make Cheno and Idina come back for Wicked "together."

BERNADETTE:
I very much agree with you... I saw Kristin, Jennifer and Megan Hilty.... and i was MUCH more impressed with Megan Hilty than Kristin... Megan and Jennifer were sooo much more fun than Kristin... this is just my opinion but thats what i though.. I mean kristin was great but not the best in my opinion and im pretty sure she said she wouldnt go back... (but dont quote me on that!)

I wish it WOULD happen, but right now, I'm just happy that Kristin is coming back to Broadway in The Apple Tree. And Idina is way too busy in London.
'Yeah, the producers have pulled their stunt casting by having Idina do Wicked in London...'
I wouldn't call it stunt casting having Idina do it here. Very few people know who she is, minus those who know about musical theater and Wicked. Yes it gives it a good look with 'Tony Award Winning Actress' but really not many people know her from Adam here.
There are a lot bigger names they could have used...

the "stars" aren't needed. Even without Kristin and Idina in the beginning, the show would have done fairly well. It shows with the global fascination with the Wizard of Oz. Wicked has not gone under 90-100% attendence and they are sold out till the end of time. this is still 3 years after it opened on Broadway. Without its original stars. Wicked is popular because of its story and the history of the story.
I do not see the original stars coming back in the foreseeable future. Not even gonna happen 7 years from now if/when the show reaches its 10th anniversary...maybe its 5th, because they will still be youthful, but not 10.
