It would so great to see a separate recording, it's really the stars aligning to get so many greats in one cast, but because Patti has already been captured on one, I don't know if the other relative star wattage can justify a new recording. Maybe a live recording can be done? Don't know what the cost differences would be.

Mmm as bad as it sounds I kind of feel the chances of record (audio and/or video) and awards (e.g. Best Revival Tony) now after Sondheim's death are pretty much the highest they could ever be.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Given all the positive word of mouth Company has been getting in previews so far, I can see it being very competitive for the win in Best Revival of a Musical. If The Music Man lives up to everyone’s expectations, the case for that to come out on top could be that it’s a more traditional musical comedy that’ll make everyone feel good after the rough couple of years the world has gone through. However, the case for Company could be that it not only offers a brand new take on a classic, but it’s also the final Broadway revival of a Stephen Sondheim musical that Sondheim himself got to be involved with. We have seen instances before where a bold new production of a more serious work ended up beating out a more straightforward presentation of a musical comedy such as The Color Purple winning in 2016 over She Loves Me and Oklahoma! winning in 2019 over Kiss Me, Kate.

This Company is a bold new production, yes, but the show is still categorized as a musical comedy (though more serious in tone than The Music Man). I think Caroline, or Change fits the Oklahoma! slot for this season; however, it probably has much less of a chance of winning.
Patti was great, yes, but the highlight of the night, for me, was the male ensemble. Top highlights for me were "You could drive a person crazy", "Another hundred people", and "Getting married today". ... and just getting to experience Patti sing "Ladies who lunch" and the multiple diva moments for her in the play were great!
I'd love to see this with the understudy for Bobby because I didn't love Katrina in this, unfortunately. Her voice at the end of Act 1 and in Being Alive really bothered me so much that I had to come on this board to write this. Her acting is beyond amazing, which is probably what producers wanted, idk? But the voice was so ~cringy~ to me. Just my opinion, of course... But I was looking forward to Being Alive and was let down.
Nice article about a conversation between Elliott and Sondheim on moving from a male Bobby to a female Bobbie, as well as other changes in the show, including the restaging of Another Hundred People from London.
She was doing great, but now the show has stopped twice due to technical difficulties. The first time Christopher and Greg came out, vamped, told stories, answered questions. It was unclear what the issue was that time.
the second time one of the moving set pieces started to crush as it was moving down into the stage. Crazy.
it’s gonna be one long show…it’s almost like Patti doesn’t want the show to happen without her
Wow, I hope Patti is okay. I feel for Anisha; it can’t be easy to perform when you know most of the audience is disappointed. Hopefully she’ll win them over. What a week.
Wow. I saw this Wednesday night and everyone was in. For a trip that had some bad luck experiences (my plane was late and I missed the priority ticket cutoff by 5 minutes for The View...so no Rita Moreno and a big NO for their 1st day of Holiday Giveaways), I guess I'm fortunate that I wasn't seeing Company tonight.
The show was great. So many great performances. Anisha really held her own and you wouldn’t know it was her first performance. Considering the weight of understudying Patti, she really crushed it and her voice was strong. A great version of Ladies Who Lunch.
The cast had a lot of fun tonight making jokes and references to all the set malfunctions.
I hope this is a Bette Midler one-time event. Meant to see the show tomorrow eek! Unusual for Patti to be out.

Cannot wait to hear the official reviews. I LOVED this but thought Lenk was miscast. Great actress and her vibe was right, but why in 2021 cannot have someone who can SING the score is beyond me. Especially after having a Lupone kill "Ladies Who Lunch." "Being Alive" just sinks.

No disrespect to Katrina Lenk, I think she is a very talented actress, but I agree that she was miscast as well. This role was not meant for her. Personally, I don't know why Rosalie Craig never crossed the pond for her long-awaited Broadway debut. Considering that she was the first EVER female Bobbie, I honestly thought she would come to NYC with Patti. The West End has so many talented actors that NEED to come to Broadway! I honestly thought after the way Elaine Paige was shut out of Broadway that producers would have learned better. There are so many West End actors that I can name off the top of my head that need to come to Broadway!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
Except that Equity, while they have made things easier, want to protect jobs for EQUITY/AMERICAN performers.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I’m on mobile so no clickable right now (sorry) but I ran into this post-stop video of the show curtain coming down on the set after the second stop, with the doorframe. Admittedly looks quite horrifying… Glad Katrina is okay. How did the show even go on with damage like that?!
Marianne Elliot made the decision to cast all American actors. There was an interview a while back where Craig said she was quite hurt not to transfer with it.
