Aurora is a collector. They have not filmed any of the videos they share on YouTube. They’ve clearly stated this countless times. I don’t even think they were alive when 85% of the videos they share were actually filmed.
How could anyone sing ‘Being Alive’ tonight without breaking down?
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I think Lenk is charming in act 1, but it seems like a conscious decision in act 2 to portray her Bobbie as anxious and disoriented as she gets more frustrated with her friend group, drinks more, and gets closer to making a decision in “Being Alive.” Lenk isn’t the warmest performer in general and I think Elliot’s vision is adding to the “coldness.”
As you mentioned her “Being Alive” is beautiful, and I think it plays best from the front orchestra. Watching her sing the “introspective” verse of the song on her knees in tears is really touching up close."
Saw the matinee today and the rain scene is there - Lenk's ''Being Alive'' really moved me and she took me along on her journey. Thoroughly enjoyed her well acted performance- she has a delicate voice but handled the score nicely and not once was she flat this afternoon. Sitting in the front row center-mezz was perfect viewing and seeing the solid rich sounding orchestra pearched above the set added to a great afternoon at this revival. Btw, Patti is having a blast in the show and it shows that she's having much fun and her ''Ladies Who Lunch'' scene is the showstopper we expect from her and she powerfully delivers! This production is Exquisite! Cast is perfect and the score never sounded better! Just found out that Sondheim passed when I arrived home which makes this afternoon at Company even more of a special day! RIP Steve! Show started at 2:05 and let out at 4:50.

Wow, what a special day to have been there. Happy to hear you enjoyed this great revival.
I'd be more or less concerned about Patti getting through tonight's show (if she goes on).
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I’m at the show tonight. Last minute this morning I decided to purchase a ticket through TKTS and my god am I glad I did. The entire audience is taking about it. This will be a night to remember.

This is silly, but does anyone know what seat Sondheim sat in when he was at Company last week? It looks like left orchestra on the aisle. I’m going next Friday and sitting right over there. Wondering if I might share the seat the legend sat in.

How you regular folks function thru any crises is questionable. Performers and many others still function and “the show must go on.” I have a friend in the cast and he said they were told of Sondheim’s passing after the matinee performance. Guess what? No one collapsed and no one panicked they couldn’t be up to performing the evening performance. Everyone, including LuPone, was thrilled they would be honoring him and his work at the evening show.
You can now be able to watch all the pre-show activities from the first preview (which includes Sondheim's standing ovation, Marianne Elliott's introduction, and Patti LuPone's comments) on YouTube. It was recently uploaded by Aurora Spiderwoman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKoGrTGK7fY
Wow…just made it to intermission. Marianne Elliot delivered a beautiful pre show speech and the entire cast joined her onstage. Patti was handing out tissues to some cast mates. Marianne asked her to say a few words and she dedicated the performance and the remainder of the run to Sondheim; she was barely keeping it together. Otherwise the energy in this audience is incredible and the show is still in amazing shape. It’s an emotional yet joyful night. Will post more after the show.

What a historic night to be in that audience. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to hearing about the rest of the performance.
