I hope Patti Lipoma recovers quickly. Wishing her a speedy recovery. She’s brilliant.

What a demonstrably false thing to say…people have enjoyed and appreciated Simard’s performance, but to say MANY here preferred it to Patti is laughable.

Haha ok! Multiple people said they preferred Simard’s performance in the Company thread. Have a great day!

A few here on the boards are quoting me as posting this on their reply:

I (and I think many others here) honestly preferred Simard to LuPone. I definitely get being disappointed not seeing the star of a production, but you definitely didn’t miss out."

That was posted by n2nbaby.  Not me.

I've seen the show three times. The first I had the entire cast in and LuPone was outstanding. Second time I saw it there were two u/s on and Patti was sleepwalking through the show. Third time had Simard as Joanne and the show was the best out of the three times. I'm sure once Patti is back, she'll be giving a top performance since she's got that Tony to go get.

The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I enjoyed Simard, but it often felt like she was doing an imitation of the famous broadway divas rather than genuinely playing Joanne. This was especially noticeable when she was singing.

To me Patti LuPone feels authentically Joanne while with Jennifer Simard Joanne feels more like a character if that makes sense

Agreed. I believe Patti is most authentically Joanne. Simard is so freaking brilliant, but she doesn't make Joanne her own - lots of Patti-isms. I've seen each of these ladies twice as Joanne. The direction is so incredibly clever.

Just a heads up that Patti is out again today for the matinee.  Hope she’s ok.

That Katrina Lenk performance was painful. Sounded like she was strangling cats or something. Awful.

It is a bit concerning that nothing has been said about her absence. Let's see if she's back on Tuesday.

Well, first time seeing this production today.

It’s been a lonnnnnng time since I’ve seen such incongruity between the production/direction (fantastic!!) and everything else (not fantastic!!…save for a few performers). Maybe it was an off day.

Jennifer Simard was Joanna today and Kathryn Allison played Sarah. Nicholas Rodriguez was on as Paul

Last night was the first night since the beginning of March that the entire cast was in the show without any understudies.
