That's what I'm going through regarding Hamilton; the digital comes out next week but I really want it on disc so that's how I've pre-ordered it on Amazon. Why they won't let me order the disc and get the mp3s when the come out next week is beyond me.

They really should do that. Amazon does it with older titles. If you buy the CD you can immediately download the digital album from their digital store but they don't do it with new releases. For Hamilton I have an Amazon gift card that I'll probably use for the digital download and then put the CD on my Christmas wish list.
Now, of course, I have to decide if I want to download Lady Be Good tonight or wait for the CD.

Because the sale is not completed until it ships. In theory if they offered the digital download that much earlier than the physical release, a person could pre-order, get the mp3 Download and then cancel the CD order.

But the digital download IS way earlier than the physical release; it's about a month sooner. I want the disc but I wish I didn't have to wait so long for it. Oh well, I may be able to get it from a friend in the meantime.

I wasn't clear. Let's say that if you preordered a CD before the digital download was out and they offered the download once that was available. you would still be able to cancel the CD order after you got the digital download and get all the money back.
I ordered a New Brain right around when the Off Center performance happened. It included a digital download which I did right away. They have had issues sourcing the CD and months later I still don't have it. They even asked if I wanted to cancel the order because it was after the guaranteed date, etc. But since I got part of the product I felt I could not cancel it. IT is still a lingering issue, and maybe I should contact and say refund me all except for the digital download and call it good.
I too am wondering if they recorded the Broadway orchestrations or the reduced orchestrations for that revisal. If that's the version they're licensing and this truly is more of a reference recording for regionals then it makes sense that they would record the reduced orchestrations. Either way I'm just thrilled to have this cast preserved!
I think a lot depends on the record label. I checked my kindle and found about 35 shows I bought CD's from Amazon that were downloaded. Some of them were bought years before I got my first kindle and they were downloaded right away. Amazon lists an album as auto rip and those are the ones downloaded .
Oh yeah I absolutely wouldn't mind at all if they used the reduced orchestrations. I just would prefer the large orchestra because that's just how I am. I always prefer an 15-20 piece orchestra over a 5-6 piece band.
I know everyone is listening to Hamilton tonight, but is anyone else also listening to Cry-Baby? I think it sounds pretty great. It's been a long 7 year wait!
I like it; and it certainly brings back a lot of fun memories, but I'm not loving it as much as I had hoped I would. But I'm still VERY glad to have it!
Quick question: I noticed the tag of "88.4% of the Original Broadway Cast". Are all the leads on this recording? Are the 11.6% new ensemble members that are singing on the recording? I don't know a lot about the show outside of the Tony Awards performance, and the demo recording I've heard.

James Snyder through Colin Cunliffe are all original Broadway cast members. Everyone else is exclusive to this recording. It's a shame that the only missing featured performers, Tory Ross as Hatchetface and Lacey Kohl as Wanda, are not on here. Together with Carly Jibson's Pepper, they were quite the trio!

I don't know the show at all, but it seems like the 88.4% might be some kind of reference or inside joke? Just a guess.
