Is he a little old to play it convincingly? Yes, absolutely. However makeup does wonders. There was no way the producers were going to deny Platt the chance to get that EGOT title. It's one thing to play younger on stage, then to have the camera up close and all up in your face in HD, on the big screen like it will be on film. I would have much preferred a younger, undiscovered performer, but this is the casting we all knew was inevitable.
While think Platt is overhyped in every sense of the word, I think he will be good as he proved when he played the role on stage, I am excited for Moore and Pino. I'm big fans of both of them!

Yeah, such a pointless post. They are filming it as we speak so......

Reiterating what Platt once said. Stop reading into it as if it’s a quote from yesterday’s GMA. Never once on that post did it say: Platt said this earlier this morning. Seems “Karens” come in all shapes and sizes. Relax. Take a breath. Life’s too short. It gets better. I promise.

The amusement I get from people labeling a woman who simple disagrees with you or calls you out on this board a "Karen" is endless. Like, it's so incorrect and nonsensical it's hilarious.
Thank you for the laugh, it's been a weird ass week!

Posted: 9/3/20 at 12:52pmI must be the only one who’s fine with Ben Platt as Evan. Yes I wish someone like Andrew Barth Feldman was cast. But Ben Platt IS Evan. I’m glad his performance will be preserved.

Whether 'he's EH' or not isn't my concern. It's the way he plays on camera, which is a lot older.
I'm not the target market for this anyway. I never liked the music. Never was a fan of the show (or him).

You’re not the only one. I’m glad Ben Platt will be in the movie as Evan Hansen.
The rest of the cast was picked having that in mind. What matters more is how do the rest of the cast look like when standing next to Ben Platt. If Jared, Evan, Alana, Zoe, and Connor all roughly look around the same age, then it will work.
I watched DEH on Broadway a year ago and I recall it was odd seeing Andrew Barth Feldman (Evan) standing next to Alex Boniello (Connor) since the difference in age (roughly 10 years) was so obvious that it’s hard to believe both were high schoolers.

LMAO how was i being a Karen? what you posted literally has no bearing on reality because they are shooting the movie as we speak.

I’m assuming all these new characters they keep adding are going to be acting as the virtual community members in the film.

His social media postings have zero relevancy to the production of the DEAR EVAN HANSEN film. For obvious reasons, he can’t post anything from the film set so it’s just personal stuff and recent voting stuff. My 2 bffs are currently on their sets (one a single-camera sitcom; the other a major film) and we still text about the meatloaf I’m making and random stuff. Even in their costumes. Insane they’re capable to disconnect from what they’re doing, huh? So irresponsible they’re not in their working “mode.”

I think what he means is that in his insta story, Ben has a beard, and he should be clean-shaven if he’s still filming
