I get that. He was a great Evan in the original production, and I am sure he will be fine in the film. In my own ideal world, they would have cast someone else.
Of course, I am not the one making the movie, so my opinion won't go beyond being posted on a Broadway message board.
Yes, I realize where we are on the internet, I just personally don't get why we are still talking about Evan when there is no question about his casting and hasn't ever been.
The article mentions he's playing the stepfather. I guess if it allows an actor of Cuban descent to play the role of Larry (while still having it their way and casting the kids white)...
I love the cut song "In the Bedroom Down the Hall" for Connor and Evan's mothers. It appears to have fit in the space where "Requiem" is now. "Requiem's" a terrific song but the prior gives some interesting insight into Mrs. Murphy's character.

"Woulda Coulda Shoulda" seems to be a pretty common theme around these message boards.

I was literally just coming here to say how much I hope In the Bedroom Down the Hall makes it into the movie. I would argue you could keep Requiem in the first “act” and put In the Bedroom Down the Hall in the second “act”. It’s such a beautiful and moving song, I really hope they utilize it.

Thank you guys for posting about "In The Bedroom Down The Hall." Just finished listening to it and it's gorgeous! 500x better than that glove song. Love the 70s folk vibe behind it.
Amy Adams is going to be sublime, like always, as Cynthia. I've honestly never heard of Danny Pino, but I'm sure he'll be great. I'm glad they're taking diversity seriously. Will Larry still be in the movie, I wonder? Holding out for Idina or RBJ as Heidi, but I'm sure that whoever is Heidi will be great.
It's not a real person, there is no "supposed" to be anything. It can very easily be changed if the writers feel like it. They may even name the changed character Larry just to mess with you personally.
