The person who thought charging people to watch the Tonys at the cinema/Movie Theatre has also commented under my article. Help Broadwayworld.com members, please comment under the article with your sensible opinion before its over run by people telling me im a Hunter Foster hater lol

A group for all actors, directors, writers and fans who want to see the Tony awards celebrate the excellence of Broadway by allowing those artists who have made theatre their livelihood to take a more active part in its yearly presentation.
We want the evening to be about Broadway and for the fans of Broadway. This group is about including more of those artists that we admire and look up to, so that it truly becomes an evening to celebrate.
The description on the group expresses some definitely agreeable sentiments. However, what they say is just plain crazy talk.

Posted: 6/22/10 at 10:19amThe idea of having them in theaters, for me, is just crazy. The Met airs operas in movie theaters so that opera fans who can't be there can watch. But, the Tonys are aired on television to get more people interested in theater. If you air them in theaters, many, many people who would be crazy fans might never know about Broadway.

Posted: 6/22/10 at 10:51amNo prob. I agree with Edna that the MET model of showing it in cinemas is a ridiculous idea, especially when people keep coupling it with "Make the show longer!" The last thing I want to do is pay 30 bucks to spend five hours in a movie theatre watching the Tonys.
