you can call me and others you dont agree with trolls NAMO.
thats fine i dont agree, but i dont object..
WHat i DO object to is being called a Tw*t, a C*nt, a whore, a sex worker, a B*tch. all of which you and your friends do almost daily
I also DO object to my national origin being ridiculed, my country vilified, my religion mocked, my holyleader being called a child molester. all of which you have proudly done
I also object to being told to DIE, to COMMIT Suicide and being told that i will be shot if seen in person,
I also OBJECT to That my Dad pimps me out, that i have s*x with my dad and
That is THE BULLYING my friend.

It's not BULLYING if it's all made up to serve your TROLLING ways.
Anyway, back on topic... To those who can recall how the Ignore feature works, what happens if you have ignored a member who starts threads? Do you just not see those threads?
Good point, Namo.
It wasn't used much before according to Rob, and it should be. That's no indication that it isn't valued and valuable, though.
When applied to the right poster(s), it can mean the difference between sticking around and enjoying the boards or throwing in the towel. To many "good folks" are talking about leaving now.
Here are the options I was talking about in my previous post:

3 of 8 people think this post adds to the discussion. Do you? Yes No (enough "No" vs. "Yes" would hide the post.
I'll bring back what it looks like when something is hiddent.
I only have a vague recollection of the block feature, Liza.
I think I tried it once, and it didn't work. (Did anybody else have that happen?)
So I stopped trying to use it, since it seemed broken. Then it was removed.

LOL That's encouraging, Besty. Here's to hoping it is more effective the second time around...
I can only think of 2 posters I would block right now.
Yes, I agree some posters come into every thread just to be a nuisance. Those are the people I have a problem with.
I never tried it, but I recall that when people did they mostly regretted it because ultimately they felt like they were missing out on something.
Originally once you blocked a user they were forever blocked from you. You couldn't unblock them.
Still, if it were around today I'd use it.
And what it looks like when down voted:

The last part (show this post) is clickable. This is similar to how it looks when you have ignored a poster.
Also, when a post is removed (by author OR admin) there is a message stating such.

Of course you object, an objection you usually express by trolling more. and no, i dont call people i disagree with trolls. I call people who troll trolls.. I have never called Roxy a troll, I have never called Goth a troll yet I often disagree with them
And stop trying to isolate me, or the five men you named "mean girls" because as anyone who is reading these threads can see, a good number of men and women of all ages, religious backgrounds and political orientations have called you a troll. At this point you are throwing your troll posts at the wall to see whatever will stick. Because you are a troll.
I have no IDEA what or who your "holyleader" is but I have never called anyone a child molester because I take that crime far too seriously.

This would work well in my opinion. it would show that a statement is liked or not, and would probably allow the vast majority of users who are afraid to get flamed or bullied if they posted from voicing an opinion

Your trolling is what people have a problem with. You. This is about YOU.
You can't be a part of the solution when you are the problem.

That, dramamama, I think would be the best case scenario. Thanks for the example.
"Sometimes one person's troll is another person's long-time online adversary, and sometimes one person's troll is a naive new user asking a silly question, etc. We handle all these things case by case, and our moderators have access to look up a variety of things in our security and registration system that detect dupe users."
Bravo. That's well said.
I've seen the word "troll" hurled frequently and casually at someone who has done little more than disagree with the hurler. You may not like After Eight's opinions, or the way he expresses them, but he is no more a troll than Pal Joey.
In a country that prides itself on defending "free speech," I see too many people trying to censor others under the thin-skinned excuse, "I find it offensive." We can all find anything we want "offensive" if we try hard enough (and there are a few frequent posters who seem to try very hard indeed).
Let the moderators do their job - an adult's job is to take care of their own keyboard and avoid trying to muzzle everyone who bothers them.

Namo, this is the storm's grand finale. It knows the curtain is about to fall and its show will be over, so it's grabbing at straws. This is desperation at its finest and it's trying SO hard to not show it.
This is all from the discussion boards at Amazon.com Obviously, it's easier to read there with the hyperlinks and such.
(BTW, If you think people treat each other badly here....venture there sometime.)
...or go to DataLounge. It makes BWW look like Sunday school.
Yes, these boards are nothing compared to other places I've seen. Like on Fanfiction.net, you can anonymously leave reviews without logging in. People are crazy and extremely rude there sometimes. Much worse than here, in my opinion.

well said newintown
I'm all for the return of the "ignore" feature, but will use it sparingly as it does make threads confusing at times. Still, it's worth it.
Also, I dont have to like the pope or russia or "matilda" and can post anything I like against them. Dont like it? Click the ignore button.
