wow I didn't know that they made a take me or leave me remix
Q:What advice do you have for aspiring Broadway stars who are terminally shy? I love your work, because you seem so bold. How do you do it?
A:"I think I take more chances on stage then I do in real life but you can't learn anything if you don't challenge yourself. And don't say "terminally". If you love to perform then you have no choice, just keep training and focus on the words or the music whenever you find yourself slipping back inside yourself. You're not doing anyone any favors if you withhold your talents from the world"- Idina Menzel
I'm a huge dance music fan too but I have to say Defying Gravity doesn't feel liek it has the right structure to really make a good dance track--cheasy or otherwise. Hard to explain--I could be wrong...
And I freely admit I think Boris Midney (one of the more experimental disoc producers) and his album of DIsco Evita is rather great. Seriously--I really do. Disco Sweeney on the other hand...
(Deborah Cox's Easy as Life was great too but the song was tweaked to become a pretty standard, though good, dance anthem--they knew what they were doing with it)
best12bars ITA, and the sad part is I could totally see that happening

rentga589: Not sure. It was given to me to burn. It had about 10 versions of the song and was awful. I had hoped there would be different types of mixes but they were all pretty much techno club mixes. I wanted to scratch my eyes out after hearing them!
I have a cd called Harajuku and it is Broadway and Movie songs "done disco"
Phantom of the Opera (with creaking sounds) Own My Own Colors of the Wind I Still Believe I Dreamed a Dream
and so much more...
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
I didn't know that they made a disco mix of Phantom of the Opera

I'm predicting the dance remix of DG will start slow, and then on the line, "Close my eyes...and leeeeeeeeeeap," a big thumpy techno beat will kick in.
It's a disco formula that has proven effective many times before(Last Dance, No More Tears, The Main Event, MacArthur Park, etc.)and I can actually see this working for DG.
For a recent example of a showtune successfully remixed for the dance floor, check out "the other site" for "I Just Wanna Dance" from The Jerry Springer Opera. It's really infectious, and the accompanying video is fabulous!
