No nomination for Kelli O'Hara makes absolutely no sense.

I kind of feel bad for any musical having to go up against HAMILTON this season and next season. It'll probably sweep the Tonys next season, and everything else this season.

Erin Davie and Ryan Silverman in Side Show
OVER
Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe in THE KING & I
Does not make any sense!
Well, Kelli & Ken will be nominated for a TONY!

I'm happy about:
Dave Malloy for Ghost Quartet
Sting for Last Ship
Let the Right One In
Iceman Cometh
Hamilton
Ghosts
Into the Woods
Cesar Alvarez for An Octaroon
Carolee!
I disagree with:
-KELLI O'HARA SNUB (and Laura Michelle Kelly, but that's a bit more understandable)
-Ken Watanabe, Ruthie Ann Miles and Ahsley Park all getting snubs. Did the nominators even SEE the King and I?
-not nominating John Cariani for Something Rotten, or Paul Nolan for Zhivago
-Matthew Morrison and Annaleigh Ashford's nominations (sorry)
-Honeymoon in Vegas instead of Finding Neverland for best music (and honestly, I'd put FN above The Visit score too, but I know I'm a minority there)
-Found, Something Rotten, and The Visit for best book
-Lesley Manville's snub

I didn't see the new Side Show. Is Silverman's role even a lead? (I don't remember a leading man in the original production).
Having seen both Yazbeck and Watanabe, though, I'd say it's Yazbeck who got robbed.

With these set of nominations, these awards have lost any sense of validity for me.

Where as the Outer Critics Circle Awards seem to be picked out of a hat, the Drama Desk Awards nominations are always incredibly predictable. Jason Robert Brown has gotten nominated for every score he's done, Carolee Carmello even got nominated for The Addams Family a few seasons back, etc.
The only shocking snub is Kelli O'Hara...

"Having seen both Yazbeck and Watanabe, though, I'd say it's Yazbeck who got robbed."
Both of them AND Peter Gallagher should have gotten in before Silverman.
Also, I love Carolee and her ridiculous vibrato as much as the next guy, but her getting nominated over Miles, Park, or even Victoria Clark is a little ridiculous. Her part is tiny, and she's not even that exciting in it.

Can someone explain to me the thing about Andy Blankenbeuhler? He's not nominated for Hamilton, but was given a special award for his choreography? What's the deal there?

I think they spread out and recognized a lot of great things from earlier in the season that will be otherwise overlooked.

In my opinion, if one of the twins from SIDE SHOW was going to be nominated it should have been Emily Padgett.
Very disappointed that John Carianni wasn't on the list. His was the performance in SOMETHING ROTTEN! that impressed me the most....a subtle performance in a show that is full of over-the-top. Brad Oscar & Christian Borle, though solid, seemed to be resting on schtick we've all seen them do many times before.
