Joseph Smith's divine retribution?
Other than that, it's still under investigation -- though it's been described as an "electrical fire originating in the spot booth."

Latest report, per an interview with BWW:
"Asked about a potential timeline for the current repairs, [architect Francesca] Russo was careful not to speculate too specifically without knowing the full extent of the damage. The Department of Buildings has reported heavy fire damage to the spotlight room and roof, with the blaze having originated in an electrical room between the fourth and fifth floors before extending upward.
Her estimate ranged from a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the complexity of what inspectors find, a range broadly consistent with ATG Entertainment's statement that performances are anticipated to resume 'in the coming weeks.'
...work at the theatre has begun to progress. In an updated statement, the DOB confirmed that the owners of 230 West 49th Street have conducted some of the needed repairs inside the building and requested a follow-up inspection, which was performed earlier today. The inspection found that repairs had been completed in the public assembly spaces, the parts of the theatre open to the public, though repairs have not been completed in the spotlight room. As a result, the DOB has partially lifted the Vacate Order to allow the rest of the building to be reoccupied. The spotlight room itself remains under an active DOB-issued Vacate Order."

So they are planning to reopen. Still curious if they move their 15th anniversary celebrations to another theater.

Aren't the celebration dates June 9th through the 14th? It's possible the show could be back open by then. They were already waiting a few months after the official Anniversary date to do this so I would think they will just wait until the show reopens what seems like sometime this summer. Just my thoughts.

I imagine they’ll just do a grand reopening and anniversary together.

That was my thought also if it reopens after the planned dates. I would also think that they may have to re-coordinate the participants' schedules.

As I mentioned before, I have a friend in the show and he was told they hope to be back performing by the end of this month or very early June. Main focus is getting the show back up while repairs on the rest of the building continues separately.

Is your friend getting paid until the show reopens?

So far yes up to May 17. Actor’s Equity is involved and working out options. They don’t know the situation regarding the cancelled performances for next week and yes, everyone is stressing.
