I found it interesting that Gwen’s son wasn’t part of the series at all aside from showing his conception. I had read that he lived with Gwen and Bob part of the time.
Definitely give Michelle all the awards. I’m not sure how she tops this but I’d like to see her go for EGOT."
My sentiments as well. I'm not generally a fan of multiple flashbacks, however I find them a bit more seamless in This Is Us. Not being all that familiar with the chronology of Fosse's life did have an impact I'd imagine. I found it necessary to view the episodes after I DVR'd them so that I could replay segments of them to further my understanding of events.
I sincerely hope that more of this type of content will be aired in the future. It was such a pleasure to have a deeper grasp of the amazing contribution Fosse and Verdon offered to the arts.

They managed to create something that would play to three different target demographics: it was a flashy showbiz show about a Broadway legend (the better to satisfy FX's now established reputation as the queer-interest crossover channel post Ryan Murphy breakup); it featured a revisionist, relatively feminist look at a known story with a powerhouse leading actress stealing the show (the better to satisfy the female-skewing "prestige miniseries TV" junkie market); and it featured a leading man interpreted as a wry, manipulative user if not abuser (the better to fit the series into the "cynical asshole antihero slowly destroys himself" mold, which plays very well to mainstream male audiences). If we lost some of Fosse's joie de vivre, as a few of you have said, it's almost certainly so that Series!Fosse can feel like a kindred spirit to Don Draper, Saul Goodman, Hank Moody, Greg House and even BoJack Horseman."
Except that it was pretty much a ratings loser from the start, so apparently it didn't really play to any of those demographics.
I’m very happy for all the nominations. They were very well deserved. However, I feel bad for Norbert Leo Butz. I loved his take on Paddy Chayefsky, and I wish he could’ve nabbed a nod.
Williams is certainly deserving, but WTSU was just everything. As someone who cares deeply about criminal justice reform, it left me gutted and more committed about these issues. It was so well directed, beautifully acted and well written. It captured the reality of these people’s lives tragically.

Having seen Gwen Verdon live multiple times, and on TV lots, and having listened to the OCRs for Charity and Chicago a zillion times, I think ME gave a magnificent performance. What is going to hurt her IMO is that this seems to be the year of Patricia Arquette (and I did not see Escape, so I can’t compare) and, Emmy noms and all, Fosse/Verdin wasn’t as good as some of the other competition, even if I enjoyed it more than the others that I did see, all but Escape.
so, even though I think she would deserve it in almost any year, I fear she is going to be a bridesmaid again.
I’m seeing a lot of talk about Amy Adams winning the Best Actress category. I haven’t seen her series but like Michelle, she also has multiple award nominations under her belt. Seems like a tight race.
Happy for all involved with Fosse/Verdon. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Margaret Qualley nominated. I hope she wins.

The majority of a season has to air before the May 31 cutoff. I think 3 or 4 episode of Handmaid's season were eligible but only in technical categories, and they earned a few that way.
When They See Us will absolutely dominate the Limited Series, and deservedly so, but Williams will definitely get her Emmy.

Forgive me for being very behind in this conversaton, but just finished watching the "NOWADAYS" episode and was wondering if Bob did indeed contact the media about Liza stepping in for Gwen when she had her surgery. This show has changed my opinion of him, and not for the better. I had no idea that he was that conniving and duplicitous. This episode has been my favorite so far. I know that it is very hard to create a show about a famous person when everyone knows the ending, but I feel that this show has done an incredible job!...

So you just automatically believe everything in this DRAMATIZED show? Is that right? You can't possibly be serious. Do you believe that the film of Sweet Charity played at the Ziegfeld as stated in this show as fact? Do you? (Note: It didn't).
