Is it meant to play into the framing device and just isn't registering with audiences? It seems like such an easy fix (I mean, they could even just put the stage hands in basic costumes) that to not have addressed it by this point seems on purpose.
"I'm sorry the cast and crew had to read so many negative comments from rude people who hadn't even seen 10 minutes of the show before they started to bitch and moan about it."
Said by Hamilton22 on The Wiz thread. Of course, that didn't stop this troll from criticizing Fiddler before he's even seen it.

I saw it from the ultra-mezz: next to last row of the rear mezzanine. Nosebleed country. A clear, unobstructed view of the stage, good sound and decent leg-room.
Bring your opera glasses if you want to see any facial expressions.
Patrick Neal Harris in way back mezz. Only ticket I can get. Honestly barely better than not seeing it. But never again. I have to sit close. I suppose if you can't wait for a better seat, it's better than not being there.
Anyone know why they use the pronunciation of L'chaim they are (as I saw in the Macy's performance)? They are saying "le chi im" vs. the film "le chi eem" the latter of which I've always heard used in real life.
From what I've experienced, "yeem" sounds like the more Israeli pronunciation. "Yim" is a bit more American with a Yiddish influence. Either way, I'm glad they're not pronouncing it like Savannah Guthrie on the parade and some in the last revival did - L'hi-yim. The phlegm is important.
I saw the show this afternoon and felt like it is a very good production with a few flaws.
What I enjoyed the most was Adam Kantor and Danny Burstein who were both excellent in their roles and the choreography which was fun and made the production numbers exciting,
I really disliked Jessica Hecht's Golda. Her portrayal made no sense as she was too cold early on and seemed to change completely by the end. I found Act 2 to drag a bit towards the end.
Overall, I thought this was a great production and with some minor tweaking it wouldn't surprise me if it has a nice run.
To clarify, I don't do mezz. ever. Doesn't matter what theater. In July bought tickets for FOTR. 5th row. See in wo weeks.. It's a different show when you see their faces.
