While it's a little disappointing we will not get the full album on the 7th, I would rather them take the extra time to mix the tracks rather then do a rush job on it. The turn around from recording to release already seemed REALLY fast. And if I am not mistaken, I think Eva was under the weather around the time that they recorded (the first time an understudy went on in the show was for her around that time) so it's also possibly they might have some extra recording to go back and do at parts. I would rather wait for it (HA!) a little longer and get something fantastic then get something cobbled together to make a deadline.
The only place I’ve seen this “batch” release stuff is the Vulture article which is filled with spelling and grammatical errors. The Hadestown twitter says it’s coming out June 7th. Amber Gray also said in an interview today it’s coming next Friday. I think the whole album is being released next Friday
Wish the whole album was coming out at once, but the songs sound great. I personally would’ve preferred Hey Little Songbird instead of Our Lady of the Underground, mainly because it would’ve been nice to hear a bit more from Eva Noblezada and especially Patrick Page

I just hope that we are going to get everything in the end, and not have it be like the NYTW recording, which (don’t get me wrong, I love that recording) but after waiting forever for it, they left a lot of the show off.

it has been announced that a 2CD version is coming, ergo I think we'll get the entire score
The build in Wait For Me is so good. Comparing the off broadway track and this, I'm so used to Damon's vocals that it was jarring to not hear the same choices. I also wasn't expecting to like the differences between Chris Sullivan and Andre De Shields, but the mixing is just so beautiful that after a couple of listens, it becomes the definitive version quickly. Kind of like how it happened for Waitress OBC vs Sara's What's Inside album. Can't wait to get the Reprise in my hand to hear Eva's bridge; until then -

For what it's worth, I think this would work well as a Tony number. It's a great song, most of the nominees have at least one line, and it throws you right into a moment of high tension.
While I’m happy that they’re working hard to make it real good it pains me so much to have to wait for the full recording. I saw the show on Friday and have been listening to the off broadway recording constantly.
This is kinda stupid. Especially because, with what I’ve noticed with pre-orders on iTunes, that is breaks the album up into multiple pieces as it’s released and then doesn’t combine them on the Apple device.
It happened to me with the new STAR IS BORN and ROCKETMAN soundtracks

I am wondering if these are going to be separate downloads or will it somehow be rolled into one once the entire thing drops. Will each drop cost a portion of what the price of the entire recording will be? Not crazy about this idea. I am going to wait until the entire thing is available. Don't want to listen to this in pieces. JMO
If you have a subscription to Apple Music, you won't pay a thing more and everything will be collated in the proper album once release happens (or should be). This is common practice in the wider music industry.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Im an amazon music gal....haven't had a problem with it being "whole" at the end, yet!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

So is this the new trend? Miley Cirus is doing the exact same thing with her new music."
It's not exactly a new trend, is it? Artists have been releasing singles to preview their albums for at least 10 years now. The singles end up becoming the reason people would buy the albums eventually. This way is just more formalized, and ends up being less expensive for the listeners at the end. I think of it as buying the season before it's all on the air, and getting weekly episodes I can then stream.

Except....episodes are released in chronological order!

Note to Hadestown Producers (and publicists): Not the best idea to announce you're releasing a cast album on June 7, get the entire fan base looking forward to that date, only to suddenly, and three days before, change the plan completely and decide to announce it in drops and drabs through till the end of July.
I'm not sure what they think they will achieve by doing this, but I'm not buying the quote from Anais Mitchell on why.
