Curious if they’ll air it in black and white like the movie and how the camera set up will be. Will they use multiple cameras or just a single steady shot.
"

No idea if they will emulate the movie and shoot in black and white (possible but unlikely, IMHO). But there's no way that a live network television broadcast, with all the attendant hoopla leading up to the broadcast, is going to do a 100-minute production of a Broadway show starring George Clooney and a cast of 20 using a single locked down camera. Heck, even standup comedy shows with one performer are multi-camera.

I love this, more shows should do this for their penultimate or final performance. And the night before the Tonys? Perfection.

I think the broadcast would only have a negative impact if people saw the show on CNN and thought it's bad. But really it's going to have no impact on sales because the play is closing a day later either way.

Jordan Catalano said: "The first time a Broadway show has ever been broadcast live."

Sorry to be that person, but this distinction belongs to Show Girl starring Carol Channing:

"In the final week of the Broadway run, Show Girl became the first Broadway musical to be broadcast live in its entirety on an early form of pay-TV in Etobicoke, Canada."

And after that, I believe She Loves Me was also broadcast live. At least, according to the Times (with an inaccurate headline to boot!)

And after that, I believe She Loves Me was also broadcast live.

Indeed, the 2016 Broadway revival of SHE LOVES ME was live-streamed on BroadwayHD on June 15, 2016. Though the performance was indeed live, the copy that is used today is not the live-stream copy but a standard pro-shot filmed using footage from 3 performances (2 with an audience and 1 without). All the network live event musicals also released commercially a different edit than what was seen live on television (mishaps seen on live TV, fixed on the commercially released version).

Do we know this for sure? It seems like it would be, or should be, but I haven't seen it reported. Maybe they're holding off in order to build as big of a live audience as possible. Also, I saw Clooney float the possibility of taking the show to London. So maybe that's a factor, too.

I don't know, but I'd love to hear from anyone who does.

CNN's press release says it will stream live on Max across all subscription plans. It will also stream live on CNN without requiring a cable login. What is not clear to me is if it will still be available on Max afterwards. My guess is yes, for awhile, but it does not specify.

My guess, and that's all it is, is that they're holding off on news about streaming availability until afterwards. They want the biggest audience possible tomorrow night. And Clooney clearly wants this to be a national conversation, the kind that must-see broadcast TV used to generate before we all had a million options.

Just a few more minutes until the live broadcast! Who's watching?

Watching at home on CNN, the sound isn't syncing up correctly, there's a fraction of a delay. Anyone else having this issue?

Is Glazer this terrible every night, or is it nerves?

The pic quality and sound is a TON better on Max compared to CNN (at least watching on YTTV … and I have a fiber network).

Echoing the comment about great sound and video quality on MAX. No issues.

Not trying to be cruel but she seems… absent? Am I missing something?

George, you're a great actor. But you're too shortsighted to see... the voters made up their mind a year ago.

Glazer seems the same as when we saw this in late April. Take that as you will.

I don’t see the point in this comment. We just had the first Broadway play to be broadcast live around the entire world. I don’t think it needs to be reduced to him wanting the award. I think that this meant a lot more to him than the award, And I think that’s pretty clear from his decades of political activism. I don’t necessarily agree with him on everything and I’m not even really a very big fan of his, but I think this is an unfair assessment of what tonight was.

The most surprising thing to me in the broadcast was the audience reaction to the video montage—when I saw this in March the audience was stunned and appalled; you could hear the gasps, no clapping whatsoever. The ecstatic applause tonight is a very different reaction.

I had the opposite happen - we were watching Max (since I was worried that events may cause CNN to interrupt the broadcast) and Max was glitching a lot.  So we just went to CNN and it was so much better.

There was applause at my performance as well. And re Glazer's performance, I'd say it's nerves- her final line had a lot more bite when I saw it.

Although I have to wonder how the conflating of Biden's staff vouching for him with Elon's Nazi salute plays now vs even a few weeks ago, given how badly the rollout for the Jake Tapper/Alex Thompson book has been received.
