BARBRA. IT IS A PERFECT ROLE. An aging actress who thinks she is young and beautiful. She is ageless and evergreen. HATERS GONNA HATE

I vote for Jane Fonda, lip syncing to Elaine Page’s vocal tracks.

And I vote for Charo, lip syncing to Betty Buckley.

"Actress is too old to play old-age actress!!!!!" Lord.

I would honestly LOVE to see this movie get made, even if it's pretty bad, but Norma is NOT in old age. She's fifty, but still hasn't worked in many years. It's part of Wilder's whole point, the whole industry satire.

Exactly. Truth is Lea Michele is closer to Norma’s age than Glenn Close is.

Glenn, they only want your car!

How can Glenn Close and ALW have two completely opposite responses about the future of this movie ? Is Paramount not telling them the same story ?
Maybe they should be interviewed together and battle it out until we get the truth out of both of them.

By the standards of the era the film was made, she's old age.

I want to sincerely apologize to you. I am truly sorry if I have offended you. I’m hoping we can move forward in positivity. I really mean no harm. I hope you understand that.

I would love to see Hannah Waddingham as Norma Desmond. She's the right age and has the vocal chops for the role!!

Splendid news! I truly hope this happens. It’s one of the great performances in Broadway history. And maybe she can finally win an Academy Award.
Glenn Close is determined to get the Sunset Boulevard remake made.
“It’s moving forward,” Close, 77, exclusively told Us Weekly of the film at Variety’s 2024 Power of Women luncheon in New York City on Thursday, May 2. “The movie is in the works and I’m not giving up on that one.”
The Oscar nominee added that she loves the character Norma Desmond, whom she previously played in two separate runs of the Sunset Boulevard Broadway musical.
“It’s so beautiful to me that she’s always still so relevant. The time passes, but that character is always important,” she said. “We’re trying to find a director, we have a great script. … That character of Norma is so heartbreakingly beautiful and will never not have relevance, it’s been a great blessing to play her and I’m not willing to let her go yet without one more tribute.”

"There's nothing wrong with being 80, unless you're acting 50!"

Love Glenn but she literally says the exact same thing VERBATIM every few years and yet zero has happened. Yes, we are aware she wants it to happen but telling the press “it’s finally moving forward” isn’t going to magically manifest it. The Universe has heard you, Glenn. She’s just not interested.

Don’t be delusional, this ain’t happening.
Posted: 5/3/24 at 1:50pm
Sure, Glenn. Sure.
Posted: 5/3/24 at 2:02pm
I guess since Babs finally dropped Gypsy, Glenn decided to take up the delusion torch.

This is all so meta. Has Paramount called asking to use her car in a picture?

I was still on board with this in 2017 When Glenn did the broadway revival for 5 months. It felt at the time that was done to get buzz going and supposedly the script was done and they HAD a director (Rob Marshall I think?) But when it never came to fruition 7 years later it’s hard to imagine doing this. Especially with the London Revival being well received which was a radical departure from any semblance of the original.
I had wondered how Glenn was taking the lavish praise the revival got and why she hadn’t shown up in London to see it
This kind of feels like an answer to those questions
