One last time at Lord Lansdowne
I walked past the site of the "Hairspray" filming on Thursday and Friday. As is the nature of the industry, Hollywood is long gone and it's just another empty school, waiting for the hoards of kids who will swarm all over it on Tuesday for the beginning of the school year. Will any of these little kids ever know about their brush with fame? I suppose when they grow up and watch the blue-ray of the old film, they'll say "Hey, I went there!"
All that remains of the glory that was is a stack of yellow safety barriers that roped off the location for a few days. The crew did an expert clean-up and left the site pristine.
And with that, my brief exposure to Hairspray ends....
hehe thanks allofmylife.
I wonder if they will return there to film later...
Its rare for films to return to a location, yeh? Arent most films shot by location availability?
Wow the, Zach looks pretty hot with waxed eyebrows! Not to mention the hair change too!

If the Hairspray producers are smart, they hide Travolta. Make his appearance be top-secret, until premiering the teaser trailer or something similar.
Yay Aki!
hmm, I dont think so .. I think they should show him loud and proud.. since its guaranteed to make every publication around.
Lets see if his first day will be "Glamourized Edna" or "housecoat Edna..."
Welcome to the 60s is the big reveal so photographers will probably get a shot of both.
I hope they dont do something stupid and try and find the most unflattering shot to use.
Amanda Bynes looks very creepy...
This movie is starting to look more authentic then the original film.
I enjoy the design of the Hefty Hideaway. The Set Designer of 'Hairspray' designed this building to look like it was built or remodeled in the 30s/40s and that the exterior decor has lasted until now-1962. Its really nice.
I cant wait to see those doors fly open, so Edna can kick her heels up!
This just reinforces my confidence that these guys are making a serious film that will stand the test of time.
I'm really liking this attention to detail and making sure everything looks retro... I also personally like Amanda's hair and I don't get what people mean when they think it's "off" it looks on to me
yes it looks 'on' to me aswell. Penny shouldnt have perfectly coiffed hair, and I think it totally suits her.
I kind of wish she was a redhead- but I think the dirty blonde suits her.

Yeah the hair looks good to me and I think Amanda Bynes, who normally annoys me, will do great as Penny. However I am much more a fan of the original movie than the musical, but I still love the musical. I'm more interested in seeing pics of Michelle Pfieffer and John Travolta, let me know when you find some of those.
I'm hoping to make a trip downtown tomorrow evening to check out the sets and hope that maybe there's still some filming going on.
tomorrow they are shooting nearly all day.
Good. I was worried because I have to work until 4 and probably wouldn't be able to get downtown til around 6.
Great new pictures up at the blog.

Hey, any sightings of Brittany as Amber yet?
they are not filming today - but I am sure this week many people will be spotted in costume.
I would imagine since its the baltimore street that we could see: Good Morning Baltimore, Welcome to the 60s, and perhaps a bunch of random city scenes being filmed.

Mateo, I'm surprised you haven't used this time to construct a virtual layout of the whole street with clickable storefront locations so that we might get an idea of where everything is in relation to each other.
*ahem*
LOL, yeh you would think with my OCD.
BUT, I have made a list of nearly every shop- but there are a couple that I think are on the other side of the street? and I dont know quite the order of the businesses.
So far I have these, the ones next to each other I know for sure are next to each other on the street but the seperated ones im not sure where they fit:
Pulako Candies
Martinizing Dry Cleaners
The Vanity Box
Catchnicks Delicatessen
Food-A-Rama
Prime Meats
Harborview Hardware
Johns Bargain Stores
Clinton Shoe repairs
Jimmys Records
Quickly Travel Agency
Acme Art and Framing
H & S Bakery
Morning Star Baptist Church
Delta Vacuum
DE-LUXE TV and APPLIANCE
LU-LA restaurant
Coocktail Lounge
Electra Furriers
Fidelity Trust Company of Baltimore
Palmo & Joe
there is also a haberdasher and pharmacy plus more...
thats a lot of redressing.
Alright, my plans are set and my camera is ready. I'll take as many pictures as I can.
When are you gonna be down there?
Akiva
I'm not exactly sure. My original plan was to go to work first, but I've unintentionally been up all night, so I'm not sure if I'll be going to work. Updated On: 9/5/06 at 03:55 AM
