I asked my wife what she wanted for our 10 year wedding anniversary and she said "all I want is to spend the weekend in NYC seeing shows with you"... :)
I'm trying to plan a surprise trip for us and of course Hamilton is at the top of that list. I also realize its impossible to get tickets! Haha. I've exhausted every resource I could think of. Obviously the chances of winning the lotto are slim to none. Do we have any options left?
Someone recommended cancellation line tix. Has anyone had luck with the Hamilton cancellation line? Are tickets outrageously expensive? Do you have to get to the theater hours in advance?
We'll have a great anniversary no matter what, but if I could get my hands on Hamilton tix somehow, I'd be the #1 husband. :)
There is an entire thread devoted to the cancellation line.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Before I read the first post of this thread, I thought this was going to be about the 10 year anniversary of HAMILTON in 2025. Tickets aren't on sale yet, and somehow they are probably already sold out. LOL
haha - july 4th weekend. which probably only makes it about 100 times harder since i'm sure there will be lots of tourists in town. i'll go look for the cancellation line thread. thanks.
Lol I thought the same thing too that this thread is for Hamilton's 10th year anniversary.
As for the OP, good luck. If you have the $$$, then buy the resale ticket. If you don't care about Lin-Manuel performing, it is slightly easier to get a ticket on Sunday matinees when Javier performs as Hamilton.
Broadway.com has tickets and the site is legit. You have to pick up the ticket at the Rodgers box office. Dates in 2017 are better, but there are some available for 2016 (at higher prices though).
There are many people who think they're going to get Hamilton tickets because it's their anniversary or their family is in the military. We all have stories but we don't all think that justifies us getting Hamilton tickets. I have hemmeroids and you don't see me begging for holiday weekend tickets.
I was going to say... You didn't mention any budget/money concerns so if you really love her, you can pay up the nose through resale. They are available. Good luck.
I was gonna say, if you loved her so much you probably would look at resale tickets. they aren't difficult to get; there are many of them there. they are expensive which is a completely different situation.
Sondheimite, I agree with that. My anniversary is October 8th and I thought we might like to see Hamilton that night, so I did a crazy thing: when tickets were released for that block I bought some. weird how that works.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
Forget about Hamilton. If she said "shows," pick two or three shows that aren't Hamilton and you'll still be paying less than one ticket for Hamilton. And they'll probably be better shows.
It's just frustrating to me that all these people think their stories justify them getting Hamilton tickets. To be fair, this is more about the army wife. I can't imagine having the constant anxiety of her situation. But I have a friend right now who has cancer who would LOVE to see Hamilton. But she isn't going around asking for someone to sell her cheaper than re-sell or face value tickets. Sh!t, I've got three friends in a hospital in Orlando right now after the shooting who would LOVE to see Hamilton and they're not even asking for tickets...
Everyone wants to see Hamilton right now with this cast. If you don't believe me, go to any middle school in the United States, play the first six or seven notes of the first song, and listen to the screams that will happen directly after it.
It is foolish to think you will be seeing this show, on a holiday week, AND the last week of a lot of the original cast without having had foresight to get tickets way ahead of time. OR without paying through your a$$ like everyone else. Everyone has anniversaries, hardships, and things going on. But that doesn't mean they get to see Hamilton without going through the same channels everyone else has.
Not to mention, you've known about this anniversary for a LONG LONG LONG time and you're just hammering down on this search? Where was was your foresight? Yikes!!!
Here are your options:
1). Re-sell tickets. 2). Try your luck with the lotto. 3). Waiting for a day (or two... or three) in the cancelation line. 4). Wait to see Hamilton and get tickets when a new block of them are released.
Those are your options and all of our options. Regardless of your story. That's harsh but that's how it is. Again, I have massive hemorrhoids right now and I'm still going to have to buy re-sell tickets to see Sunday In the Park With George this summer.
Not a joke, not sarcasm, not snark light or otherwise, but why don't you prep yourself and do the necessary legwork (aka being alert to any news) to be ready to buy tickets when the June 2017 onward block goes on sale, so you can get it for your 11th anniversary?
Edit: I also thought we were prepping 9 years in advance for the 10th anniversary of Hamilton.
