At one point we got sick of the odd stares and one of my line friends made a cardboard sign that read, "Not Homeless Desperate 4 Hamilton.
This just reminded me - a few summers ago when some friends were doing the overnight wait for Shakespeare in the Park (the line forms on CPW overnight; at 6am you can come into the park) somewhere around 2am or so a homeless services van stopped to (try and) give them some outreach.
Congrats on finally getting tix! After two days I love that you guys got lotto seats - I was exhausted just reading your recap! :)
Thanks for the update for Thursday and friday. The randomness is so frustrating. Seems like somedays you can show up at 7am day of and other days you have to show up the night before. Plus all the weird variables of tickets released due to events in the city and what not.
Love2CTheWorld said: I hope that was coherent and helpful to at least someone out there and I hope everyone who tries the cancellation line has success!!!
"Hey, and if you don’t know, now you know"
Where is the clapping hands icon! Thank you so much for your recap and understand your exhaustion and love your effort to write this for us.
When I waited and didn't get tickets, my husband and I started walking towards the subway and feeling stunned at the time invested that didn't get me tix and my legs felt so "weak" and almost tingling from all the sitting and no real leg strides all those hours that I told my husband that I think we should walk home. Just to get circulation in my legs. We live in the Lower East Side so it's a walk. I woke up the next day with a pounding headache, probably from all the stress I put my body through the hours before and had to take mom to see Aladdin that day, so I called out of work and slept until it was time to get ready to pick up mom.
I completely understand your description of the "brain is sleep deprived beyond comprehension and cognitive function is definitely lagging" because waiting in that cancellation line does just that to a body.
So terrified at the thought of attempting it again. I may need an ambulance this time!
Love2CTheWorld, that was epic in all senses! What you went through, the account, and sounds like your actual Hamilton experience. I'm so glad it had a happy ending, seemed like it might not for a while. Congrats!
Love2CTheWorld Congrats on seeing the show! You were so lucky to see almost all the OC too! Thanks for sharing your story here as well. I hope you have gotten some rest since then lol

Indeed. I drank LOTS of water when I got home and when I woke up with the headache. Doing the line alone, other than coffee in the AM, I drank no liquids to minimize bathroom breaks. I didn't want to miss a ticket release. And between 12:30pm and 6ish, there were none. I could have drank a bucket! LOL!
Anakela - Thank you so much for the congrats and the funny story! It was exhausting to write it all up, but I really did want to try and give back after all the other posts really helped me out so much in knowing what to expect. (Besides, I think I may have lost all concept of time/exhaustion after that line experience! :)
MyFavoriteBrunette - Thank you! And God bless your soul for even *talking* about doing that line again. I loved Hamilton, I even kind of maybe a little liked the line experience but my body would break up with me if I ever tried that again!!!
Jennabee - Amen! What a great way to put it. Epic. I think that essay was the only way to convey how intense the experience is! I'm also glad it had a happy ending. And for so many people. Nothing better than seeing all your fellow line mates in the theater!
gatorgirl2 - Thank you! And yes...I've spent today transitioning back into the real world. Texting back and forth sending photos with my line friends but trying to get out of "HamilMode."
And with that, it is time to close this browser!
Again, thanks so much to all the veterans and newbees who shared their experiences and answered questions. Your time and info - especially as things were constantly changing - was extremely helpful and appreciated. Best of luck to everyone doing the line - I hope you all get in!
Okay, I'm not 100% sure how this will work yet, but I've attempted to create a Twitter for people to connect for the cancellation line. This way, hopefully more people who are willing to wait in line will find people willing to pay for tickets, and vice versa.
I'm trying to make the hashtag #Wait4Ham a thing, so that people can use that to put out their requests, and I can retweet them on that central Twitter so people can easily see what dates people need and such. I'm not sure if it'll actually work, but it's worth a shot since I think this is a much better option for most people than the line sitters with the new rules.

I'm not a Twitter user--just use it for the Broadway Understudies tweets but I'd try any hashtag related to the show to grab an audience. Also #HamiltonCancellationLine #LineBuddies #LineSitting #Cronuts (LOL!) stuff like that to gain exposure. Use the typical #Wait For It #The Room Where It Happens. I say this because the first time ever in my life, I ever heard of a line sitter and even saw pictures of line sitters in action in the Hamilton cancellation line, was via the #Ham4Ham hashtag in Instagram. That's all it took for me to be exposed.
For anyone teaming up and actually doing it, photos should be taken and posted to show the success stories. It would attract my attention.

That's a really good idea! I'll do that tomorrow afternoon when more people are likely to be awake and actually checking Twitter, lol.
Do we really want to publicize the cancellation line more? It's crazy as it is! I don't really want tons more people finding out via Twitter ??
Since my husband and I are unable to do the wait ourselves, we are 100% committed to sponsoring tickets by having 2 people do the wait. We want to do it THIS WEEK!!! If anyone is interested, it's simple- you do the wait and we pay your tickets (plus reimbursement for snacks etc). If only 2 tickets get released, you get them since you did the wait. PM me- we are serious and committed!

Hamilton Musical Twitter page already publicized the cancellation line when they tweeted the new line rules. The first Tweet in response was "what's the cancellation line?" LOL!
Thank you for sharing your experience Love2CTheWorld. I'm so happy you! (hugs)
@casedilla2, someone else had the same idea. Check out @Helpless4Ham. I found out about the cancellation line via Twitter months ago, then discovered this board! :)
"Hamilton Cancellation", "The room where it happens" or "Hamilton cancellation line" were my main searches on Twitter.
Matinee: 11 premium, 4 lottery, somewhere between 8-14 house seats (employee gave vague info and caused a rush of the box office), and 4 standing room.
Evening: 6 premium, 7 house seats, 0 standing room
I arrived at 12:15am and was the last person to get in. Unfortunately, the person waiting with me was unable to get in since we were offered only a single ticket.

My sister wants to see the show again after I took her--on me--my treat. She was in awe by it. My sister works hard at work and hard at home taking care of mom. She can't physically sit for herself--she's not in that kind of health or has that stamina to be able to do it. She can't afford a sitters hourly rate plus a sitter's ticket and her own ticket.
Other people may be in this situation as well and choose the fan sitter instead. Bless those who can afford $500 in line sitting time and $354 in tickets. Go for yours!

That many seats were available, you got there at 12:15 and you were last in? When did everyone else get there?
Ok I am just gonna post every day till Thursday lol. Still looking for a buddy to wait with me Thursday for Friday nights show! Willing to pay for your ticket plus food etc. PM me if interested!
I got there at 6:30 pm on Friday and I was the first in line for regular tickets for the evening performance. The two guys ahead of me took premium tickets (and got there at 2:30 pm) and I think the girls behind me who got in arrived around 9pm. 100% worth it for me by the way, the show was incredible and somehow exceeded my super high expectations.

So now it looks like my "well I guess I'll have to do midnight" is now going to be too late too

I think it really depends. As others have noted, the matinee that day had tons of tickets, and people maybe 20 spots back in line were getting in cause everyone ahead of them was going for the evening. So if you don't mind seeing Javier instead of Lin, I think it's actually way easier to get tickets.
