Harvey Weinstein was confronted by three people at an actors event last night. One woman criticized Weinstein from the stage and was both booed and cheered by the audience. Another person confronted Weinstein at his table and was escorted out of the venue.

That girl at his table appeared to be drunk from the clip and interview I just saw on the news. The comedian onstage could have come up with something a little better/wittier than she did in my opinion.

You know what’s uncalled for and downright rude? Using your power to harass and abuse and rape women.

Considering that she’s a rape survivor and had no idea he was going to be there until right before her set, I think she did magnificent.

It was a private “invitation only” event and no one, not even the event organizer, knows why he was there let alone how he got into the event.

That’s not true from what I’ve heard, Brody - he knew someone who was performing that night.

He should not be allowed performers or anything in relation to the entertainment industry, period. This is a thousand times worse than when Louis CK just randomly dropped in to comedy nights.

When did it become the norm to call out, insult, yell at or disrespect total strangers in public? Whatever Weinstein is accused of doing is being addressed through the court system. Yelling at or insulting a total stranger in public because he is an alleged abuser is ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR. It is hypocritical to excuse one's own abusive behavior because you think someone else deserves it. Abusive behavior is not acceptable under any circumstances.

^ Sooooooo if Jared from Subway showed up at your child’s school play, you don’t think people should have the right to call him out about it? That’s pretty much the equivalent of what happened here. If he wanted a quiet night out, maybe he shouldn’t have abused dozens and dozens of women.

This thread needs more women to respond, which (besides me) no one has. The abhorrent poster defending Harvey Weinstein most likely defends other rapists as well. You are not welcome here, just like people who defend any sexual predator. Byebye.

I neither defended nor supported Weinstein's behavior (and don't). I simply said it's no excuse for OTHERS to be abusive. I would also like to thank you for not only reinforcing my point, but for giving textbook examples of exactly what I was talking about. You've told me to shut up, claimed that I support "other rapists as well" (wrong), and decided that I am not welcome here for voicing an opinion. That is typical internet bullying; in other words, ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR.

This! Your right to privacy/decency from others ends right when you don’t show that towards others. I don’t know why this woman is getting more heat than Harvey did for show his face in public....

I think confronting HW was acceptable, especially considering the venue he was in, which was filled with younger (less powerful) women in the industry similar to those he abused for years.

I also may strongly disagree with those who feel differently, but I don’t feel it is helpful to tell people they can’t be on these boards just because we disagree. I mean, only the moderators can make that call anyway. And none of us know each other so casting aspersions on each other’s character based on one thread doesn’t seem particularly productive.

Gonna let you in on a little secret. The outcome of a court case does not prove innocence. Nobody is forced to shut up if they want to vocalize his presence in the space. He is entitled to nothing. The man is a public figure and legally libel proof with how horrid his reputation is. Speaking truth to power about him is not abuse.

Wow, people are putting all sorts of words in my mouth. I said nothing about speaking truth to power, though in all accuracy, in this instance it was speaking assumed truth to power. My post was about rude and disrespectful behavior toward a stranger in public. It's quite possible to speak truth to power respectfully, without resorting to insults. You'll have a better chance of being heard and respected for your words.
