To be fair against those who say they haven't spoken out enough, this happened late Thursday. Already Monday morning Meryl Streep has made a statement:
Academy Award winner Meryl Streep called the alleged sexual harassment by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein “disgraceful,” “inexcusable,” and an “abuse of power.” She called the women who have spoken out against him “heroes.”
And let's not forget by the end of the weekend, he was fired from the company he created.
I think we'll hear more as the dust settles. But for a lot of people, it's still going to feel like a betrayal and might be hard to put into words. He created many careers in front of and behind the cameras.
And did Fox News and Meghan McCain miss this?
The MSNBC anchor wants the company's culture to change first, she said on Monday morning. Despite Harvey Weinstein's termination from the company he co-founded, Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski is still planning to nix a three-book deal she has with Weinstein Books (through Hachette Book Group).

does anyone on this board actually believe that sexual abuse by employers in hollywood toward vulnerable female and male aspiring actors has magically stopped because harvey got taken down????
this is the tip of the iceberg and every film and tv studio immediately needs to hire attorneys like eric holder to run internal investigations make recommendations and implement strong anti haressment policies with immediate termination and reporting to authorities where laws have been violated

Worse then Weisnstein (but not much) I can't believe we elected a preident who grabs women by the **** and says "when your famous they will let you do anything". I find that more appalling than Weinstein.
Still find it interesting that nothing and I mean nothing came from the Bryan Singer accusations of years ago

Speaking as a working producer, the sick, sad truth is that, if we did that, there would be almost no one left in the higher echelons of many a film and TV studio.
The New Yorker pulbished their Harvey Weinstein artilce today and it's even more disturbing than the New York Times.
From Aggressive Overtures to Sexual Assault: Harvey Weinstein’s Accusers Tell Their Stories
Multiple women share harrowing accounts of sexual assault and harassment by the film executive.

Reading these stories it is very hard for me to believe people like Meryl Streep didn't know about this. I have a lot of respect for Jessica Chastain who tweeted "I was warned from the beginning. The stories were everywhere. To deny that is to create an enviornment for it to happen again."
The silence from the Obamas and Clintons has been disappointing.

But that's just locker room talk. Trump said that when asked about Weinstein and his own comments to Billy Bush. He also said he was not surprised at the allegation because he has known Weinstein for years....um hm.
In case anyone missed this gruesome audio. He's had everyone in his pocket for years, even those with the power to arrest him.

And now his wife has left him:

This is quite horrific. I'm surprised that he thought he could get away with this - and that he HAS got away with it for so long! Wow. Those poor women, and his poor family.
Weinstein is guilty as sin . But so are many more -
Joss Whedon-
"There were times in our relationship that I was uncomfortable with the attention Joss paid other women. He always had a lot of female friends, but he told me it was because his mother raised him as a feminist, so he just liked women better. He said he admired and respected females, he didn’t lust after them. I believed him and trusted him. On the set of Buffy, Joss decided to have his first secret affair."
Cole says he wrote to her that while he was running Buffy, he said: "I was surrounded by beautiful, needy, aggressive young women. It felt like I had a disease, like something from a Greek myth. Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet and I can’t touch it.”
"But he did touch it," writes his ex-wife. "He said he understood, 'I would have to lie — or conceal some part of the truth — for the rest of my life,' but he did it anyway, hoping that first affair, 'would be ENOUGH, that THEN we could move on and outlast it.'”
Louis C.K.-The Times tiptoes up to the substance of the allegations in their summary of C.K.’s new movie, writing that among its “provocations” is “a goof-off comedian (Charlie Day) miming onanism, twice, in front of other people.” More bluntly, the rumors are that C.K. masturbated in front of non-consenting women, most of them fellow comedians. In at least one instance, in front of two women at the Aspen Comedia Festival around 2008, he’s alleged to have blocked the door with his body, preventing them from leaving, until he ejaculated. Those rumors were first reported in two Gawker stories, a blind item in 2012 and a followup piece in 2015.
Hadrian Belove-
Hadrian Belove Resigns From Cinefamily After Anonymous Email Alleges Sexual Harassment
The anonymous email circulated to hundreds of members of the film community this week.
In addition to Belove, the Cinefamily board accepted the resignation of board vice president Shadie Elnashai, whom the email accused of “raping multiple women, all verbally threatened and scared into silence after the assaults.”
As long as the entertainment industry remains top heavy w male producers who have all the power and there are young women & men who see those men as the way to success this is going to happen.
And the Gen X's & Millennials don't get why Feminism is still important.
I couldn't believe this when I first heard it but it just shows how blind people want to be-
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4964380/Donna-Karan-defends-Harvey-Weinstein-blames-victims.html
I also found Donna Karan's statement being totally surprising even with her later apology. For her to use the same old ridiculous mindset that women are responsible for their victimization because of the way they dress is outrageous and offensive. It's no different than saying that the way a women dresses was responsible for her being raped. Shame on her.
So one pig down and hopefully our **** grabbing prez is next.
I am not condoning the goings on but...
The Casting Couch.. Hasn't that always been part of show biz??? Why is everone s surprized. Where would be without the proverbial couch? (There i said it-- discuss_)

So you're pro rape as long as the movies are good?

In a way you’re right I guess, but I think there’s a major difference when it comes down to one individual. I think it’s different to think “I ended up on some sleezy producer’s casting couch!” in such vague terms, as opposed to “Harvey Weinstein showered in front of me even though I told him not to.” Like, one almost sounds like folk lore. The other actually happened to dozens of women. Sexual harassment is more than just sleeping with someone... it’s an umbrella that covers all sorts of awful behavior.
That audio is DISGUSTING. I hope his bank account gets hacked and he loses all his cash.

Good for Quiara (and Lin indirectly) for being so tactful in asking for the release of their movie rights. As a writer, I can only imagine how rough it must be to have your hard work get legally tangled with a mess like this. Weinstein has screwed over (excuse the pun) so many people's livelihoods!
Please watch Emma Thomson's interview. She addresses the 'Casting Couch' a bit. It's...a really empowering and thought provoking 11 minutes:

OOHHHHHH NO YOU DIDN'T....just because it's always been a part of the biz, doesn't mean it EVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. You say you don't condone it, but then turn around with a "but this..." type of statement, which says a lot about your mindset, even your unconscious mindset. This is all I'll say on this thread.
A couple days ago Sara Bareilles mentioned Harvey on an Instagram live stream and I couldn’t stop laughing.
