"For those who are just now trying to book tickets, it sucks that they are only selling at $350 for less than premium seats. But, if you really wanted to see it, there were tickets to be had when it was a relatively unknown commodity."
Some of us live out of town and didn't know when we could get to NY. I wasn't going to buy a ticket and not be able to get there. And yes, it does suck. I'll only be in town for a few days and don't have the time or stamina to wait all day at the theatre for SRO.
I'd love to see Kevin Cahoon take over, he's a fantastic Hedwig.

Gotcha. I assumed it had SOMETHING to do with the announcement...couldnt figure out what!

Checked for dates after NPH leaves, lets just say there are plenty of tickets. Disappointed that there is not more demand post-NPH for Hedwig. Just goes to show... the bandwagon can only hold so many until the wheels start falling off.
Yeah...they really should just close the show. After 4 days of tickets being on sale, they haven't sold out based solely on a press release announcing Rannells. What hope could there possibly be?

Sheesh.
"No matter how much you want the part, never let 'em see you sweat." -- Old Dry Idea commercial
Considering there are people just recently upset that they can't get NPH tickets despite crazybuzz for months and nominations/wins at every awards night, I'm not sure why there would be some expectation of huge advance sales for Andrew.
I mean, I'm planning to see him in it, but I haven't bought a ticket yet... they're still holding back too many seats to sort out proper pricing, no discounts, etc., and enough seats available, so there's no rush.
Now, let me buy a close side orchestra aisle without it being premium or still unavailable, then I'd've committed by now. Usually when that happens, it backfires and I'll switch right from "would have paid full price" to "Cool, there's a discount available..."
I was just able to snag a front row for $200 during closing week so I grabbed it. I think a discount will appear for Rannells.

I'm confused by the various Belasco seating charts that are out on the internet. Some show BB as the front row of the center orchestra and AA as the second row (including the one on this site). I know there's no AA for side orch, making BB the front row. Which is the true front row for center orch? I have tix in AA.
You are in the very first row which will be exciting but prepare to look straight up and have a sore neck later. I sat in row BB and couldn't imagine being any closer.
If you HAVE tix for orchestra AA, doesn't that TELL you that AA is the front?

Just guessing maybe others feel this way, but I want to see it, as many times as I get to NY, which is about once a year, whoever is in it, I wanna go.
The fact that Hedwig only does 7 shows a week would, in theory, limit their potential gross. However, the outrageous premium I imagine is part of the reason why they are operating at 128% of potential gross (#1 in this regard of the current shows).
"The fact that Hedwig only does 7 shows a week would, in theory, limit their potential gross."
Their potential gross isn't limited by doing 7 shows a week, since that is their performance schedule, but rather is defined by how much they can make for 7 shows a week. It is obviously going over that number now as premium tickets has increased in price. But it's not like they would fall short otherwise because they have a phantom eighth show to overcome financially.
That's a good point, haterobics. I hadn't considered that. Well, then would it be correct to say that their potential gross is limited relative to other, 8/week shows?
I mean, sure, if NPH felt he could do 8 performances a week, they would make more money. Of course, with him having no understudy, pushing him too hard could lead to canceled shows.
But it is hard comparing shows directly, as there are a ton of other factors. They are in one of the smaller theaters to begin with, as Wicked has double the seats, etc., but Hedwig doesn't have as much of a set/spectacle to fall back on.
For example, Hedwig and Motown made about the same amount of money this week, but Hedwig sold out its 7,049 seats for full price or more, whereas Motown only sold 89% of its 12,056 seats with a $99 average ticket price. Motown has no stars to pay, but a bigger ensemble. Hedwig has NPH to pay, but only one other cast member. And on and on...
I would imagine they are paid as musicians, not actors. And Motown has a whole band in the pit to pay out as well... with presumably more musicians than are in Tits of Clay.
