How in the world is this thing still running? With an average ticket price of just over $24 last week, this thing must be losing so much money.

My 2 questions are

A) Who is seeing this?

B) Wouldn't it make more sense $ wise for the producers to just cut their losses and close now, rather than bleeding more $ into a dead horse?

Curious to hear thoughts

Thanks all

If they can hold on till the Tony nominations and perhaps grab a few, this might make it. I think Danny Aiello is a lock for supporting.

THEy have free tickets at Equity all week. You have to be an equity memeber to pick comps.

Your thread title implies that it is closing.

I heard that they're gonna bring in Oak and Mandy Patinkin to boost ticket sales.

Who even cares?  This isn't a Broadway show...it is a Grade Z touring show that happens to be appearing in a Broadway theatre.  Big difference to me.  Again, who cares?  Other than finding the extent of the producer's idiocy amusingly verified by the weekly grosses, I don't.  I just can't believe that anyone thought this was a good idea.

Only other thought.  It is almost sad that Danny Aiello had to appear in this.  Does he need the money?  Is he desperate for work?  That is the only thing remotely fascinating here.  I only opened this post because I thought it was closing early and I wanted to see if there was any statement on investment loss, which again points to people who either have too much money or should be declared incompetent by their heirs.

And that, folks, is the essence of comedy.

And I've literally never seen that before, so I guess it only applies to when I say it.

but seriously, how sad would it be if a show with only a 6 week run closed early?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I used to work in that office, this isn't true, and I'm not Equity.

As this is only running until the 30th so, just over three week more, I can't see them closing it, but I could be wrong.

This show will not be receiving any Tony love. I guarantee it.

It's sad that the one show running on Broadway about Christmas, isn't selling well on Christmas Day.

It was sarcasm.

Sorry. dear but you're incorrect.  There have been comps available at AEA every day this week for members.  Also if you don't work there anymore (and you're not AEA) --- how would you even know??

Because when I WAS working there, that's what's I was told, but if this is true, them somebody GROSSLY misinformed me.

The reality is that that the comps offered at AEA will have different stipulations on them based on what the producers of each show send over. I have seen some where the instructions included needing to show your Equity card. I've seen others where it was pretty much an open offer to anyone who happened to be in the building and see the sign. Heck, I've seen some where they explicitly said "do not mention that you are a member of Equity or that this is a comp when picking up your ticket at the box office" (if I remember correctly that was for Trip of Love whenever they had them, which was pretty often).

^^ This makes more sense, since I've heard conflicting things about this in the past also. That being said, when they are available, are they only "day of" or is that incumbent upon the producers also?
