I listen to Seth Rudetsky on my car radio all the time. I do like him... about 90% of the time. He can get "a bit much" at times. Love Christine Pedi and her show with Seth (A Couple of Dueling Divas). They have such wonderful chemistry. He might be an acquired taste to some, but Seth knows so much about Broadway and its stars. It's incredible to me that he's not invited to the Tony Awards every year, as he seems to be one of Broadway's most fervent champions/advocates. Plus, he does a great deal of charitable work. I also listen to Julie Jaymes (sp?). Is it just me or is her voice "robotic" sounding at times? That can be irritating. I was listening to her interview with Christopher Sieber. She was interrupting him constantly. Poor guy. She seems like a pleasant person on the radio, though. from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
"Seth may be self-absorbed, but is at least entertaining and lively."
Agree 100%. He does make me smile, but i kinda get annoyed with the deconstruction videos that consist of "Here's my Actor's Fund Recording that I did. You hear that? That's so awesome, I'm OBSESSED! I told her to do that! Isn't it fabulous? Here, listen again! Go buy my cd on itunes!"
I certainly get more than my Dr's recm'd daily allowance of Seth even when I don't have Sirius on!He's pretty much everywhere!! But I have to admit he's probably everything I wish I could be in certain aspects. He's a pit musician who LOVES Broadway theater. How many other pit musicians are as visible for positive reasons? Generally speaking, when you see us in the headlines it's because we are on strike because we are about to lose our jobs; Consistently over the years, we are portrayed in a negative light because everyone seems to think we are only good for two things; playing our instruments or filing for unemployment!!
I wish I felt like I was more part of the Broadway community or theater in general instead of being made to feel like the red headed stepchild sometimes. More power to Seth for putting musos in a more positive light.

I have actually attended a recording of his show. It was last year. The guests we're Betty Buckley and these guys who all played string instruments. At a break, Chad Kimball whisked into the room and sat next to me. It was interesting to watch and a lot of fun.
I'd be curious to know what the Broadway community thinks of him. He talks about his friendship with Audra McDonald. After all, he's probably the most fervent proponent of the Broadway community on the airwaves. Christine Pedi is lovely too.

Heresy to say the way this thread is headed, but I wish there were MORE Seth during Seth's hours of broadcasting on XM. Sitting through 3, 4 or 5 boring old musical chestnuts in a row is tough without some commentary in between, when what I want MOST to hear are the backstories, the gossip, the behind-the-scenes tales Seth can share when he's at his best.
Two things could infinitely improve my listening enjoyment here: more songs from RARER shows played and talked about, and more RARE songs from the well-known shows. Would that be so hard?
And a couple words for Julie Jaymes while I'm at it -- please let your damn guests talk! It's THEM we want to hear, not you. Oy with the fake sharing-- just get out of their way and let them shine.
Used to like him, definitely appreciate all those Actors' Fund concerts, especially Dreamgirls no matter how sharp Heather Headley sang……but he is so ANNOYING!!!!!! I can't STAND him and his snark/ignorance at times and his BS about the size of orchestras in revivals.
"Plus I'm still mad at Seth for the Santa Monica College/Patti LuPone disaster."
Oooooh, spill!

what is BS about this? I kinda despise the shrinking Orchestra. There are shows with such a small pit that I refuse to call them an orchestra and instead call it a band. Sunday in the Park at Studio 54 was embarassingly small, especially considering how awesome the staging was with the projections of the art in the first act
I've never listened to his Sirius XM show, but I used to listen to the Podcast form of his Playbill column "Onstage & Backstage." He could range from being very entertaining with hilarious anecdotes to very annoying with tireless self-promotion and such. I would still listen to the podcast though if it was still being recorded.
Over the years I've found that Seth talks way too fast and because of that it can be very difficult to understand him. I'm usually exhausted after trying to decipher what he says.
I stopped listening to the station completely. As others have said the playlist is repetitive and hit or miss. And as for Seth...how many of you have heard him tell an anecdote about him and some famous theater diva. He begins the story like it's a joke, but when he reaches the end there's.....NO punch line. He talks loud and fast like there is one, but it's just an excuse to name drop.
The fact that he won't shut the **** up about it, that's what!

Patti and Seth were doing two shows at Santa Monica College. An early show and a later show. I (foolishly in retrospect) got tickets for the earlier show because there were better seats available.
WELL, every song I've been waiting my WHOLE LIFE to see Patti sing were all sung at the SECOND show. Every song. My audience didn't even get Don't Cry For Me Argentina for Christ sake.
I was honestly devastated to hear the list of songs they sang for the second show. We didn't get Rainbow High, we didn't get Sunset Blvd. I felt very ripped off.
I sent Seth an email, and he did kind of apologize, but it's still a painful memory for me a year later. I don't think I will ever get to see her sing those songs now. : (
