I don't know if Uma's voice is used or not in the film? Has anyone heard anything?
I wonder what Nicole Kidman would have been like as she was originally cast in the part?

CHICAGO the MOVIE cut some of my favorite songs as well:
Me and My Baby
When Velma Takes the Stand
I am My Own Best Friend
Class (they filmed this one though)
Well the running time for THE PRODUCERS on stage is 2:50 minutes. There is no way in hell, they are going to let the film have that running time. Anything much over 2 hours, especially a comedy, is LONG for a movie.
I hear that Uma was dubbed by Anita Ellis.
Are you serious?
I want to know how you got into this screening????? Thanks, sounds great! It is going to be so good.
2:50?
Yikes.
So long, "King of Broadway".
I read on Page SIx this morning that due to excellent responses at test screenings, Universal studios is pushing up the release date to the beginning of December.
PAGE SIX is the gossip section of the New York Post newspaper. By the way, it never appears on page 6 of the paper.
Is there a link to the mentioned PAGE 6?
I know that his is a very old thread...but, I'm still bummed that "The Producers" was not a big hit!
I'm still bummed that it was a badly adapted, badly cast movie.

My favorite move of all time. I love it.
Whoever decided to actually release this film on the theatres owes me $9; easily one of the worst experiences I've had watching a film at the movie theatre.

If they were going to basically just film the stage version, they should have actually DONE that - videotaped the original cast, on stage, with an audience, broadcaast it on HBO or PBS and released it on DVD.
I believe Mel Brooks actually mentions on one of the extras on the DVD release that he originally wanted to just film/videotape the entire original cast on the original set at the St. James Theatre and release THAT for home video, but others had bigger ideas and plans for filming the show.
HUGE enormous Broadway hit = HUGE enormous Hollywood film.
Mel once again had the better idea.
Too late now, unfortunately.
this is such a sad thread...
My favorite part is where the original poster says, "I smell Oscar, Oscar, Oscar..." That made me chuckle.

I liked it. I thought it was a great movie. I thought Will Ferrell was fantastic. I actually liked it for being a reproduction of the stage show. I was ok with that.
it was a carbon-copy through and through. if they had only just filmed the stage version...it would've been SO much better.
