Multiple attestations on this Reddit thread about how impactful the balcony scene is when viewed from inside the Palladium - gasps all round, etc,
Hopefully it will have the same effect from outside the Wilson (and if not there, then wherever it ends up).

The rumor going around right now is that this EVITA is coming to the St. James, as producers are hoping for / expecting VERSAILLES to close in early December.
The Wilson would be their fallback option, if DOLLY doesn’t take it first.

J, do you honestly believe that a show as large and expensive as Queen of Versailles would pack up after less than two months? When Redwood (basically a Prozac ad) lasted four? I know we talked about you dialing back the gloomy doom
but if that's accurate, it seems completely pointless for them to even try in NYC in the first place.

If it doesn’t sell, why would VERSAILLES even risk playing in January?
Expensive shows have pulled the plug within days / a few weeks before. (Looking at you, TAMMY FAYE.)

I've heard from multiple people they are pushing the transfer to fall 2026.

To be honest, does anybody really care about Versailles? I mean love the people involved (Chenoweth, Schwartz, Arden) but I honestly just can’t get invested in this storyline that feels a little too soon, (kinda like Tammy Faye during the last election). I also thought Jellicle Ball was aiming for the Wilson, maybe they’re aiming for another house…

Those producers are just assuming it's going to fail and a theater will be available during the peak holiday season? That doesn't make any sense. They are opening in mid October to get the holiday crowds. It just seems weird to me that they are planning on booking a theater because they THINK Versailles will fail.

Why would they push Evita out when it's hot right now? Doubtful. They shouldn't do what Cats did since no one is talking about that anymore. Just like with Teeth, I feel like they waited too long.

While I don’t doubt the producers want the St. James, the simple fact is… they can’t have it until QoV closes, and it is far too early to confidently say when that will be, however dubious its prospects right now are.

I’m going to write this here (in all seriousness) in hopes that someone involved with the show sees it.
Hi, “Evita” team (Jamie Lloyd). If you do end up taking the St. James, please understand the sightlines in that theater are probably the worst of any Broadway theater. I know in “Evita”, your set extends out and several key moments take place with an actor sitting on or laying near the foot of the stage. This will be 100% blocked for the majority of people in the mezz and/or balcony. It already is semi-blocked at the Palladium even from front Royal Circle seats, depending on the height of people in front of you. Please consider this when configuring the set for whatever space you take, but especially if it’s the horrendous St. James.

Got a survey about it this morning with possible promo art and taglines, so it’s still coming.

Jellicle Ball

I doubt ALW would want to compete with himself for Best Revival - With Cats Jellicle Ball set for this season, Evita will probably be pushed to fall of 2026.

Would it really be such a tragedy if Evita is pushed back a few months? I’m not saying that is ideal, but the London revival seems like it has an excellent chance to do well at the Olivier Awards. That would set it up, like Sunset Blvd., for a fall opening with London awards to tout.
People keep saying the show would lose its momentum. A Jamie Lloyd production of one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most famous musicals, starring one of the most talented and controversial young stars in America? Really?
This isn’t Dead Outlaw, a scrappy new musical that needed all the attention it could get.
One of my daughters saw the revival in London on vacation, twice, and she caught the outdoor scene another afternoon. Her reaction was that it’s a real coup, so finding a theater that can accommodate that is important. Upon her return to NYC, she is as obsessed as many of you about the show’s ultimate home.

Sunset also waited to transfer the following season and it didn't hurt them. ALW isn't going to let Cats and Evita compete, Jamie's dance card is filling up, and the logistics involved with the balcony scene will also take more time to figure out. Fall gives them all time to figure things out.

A brief video showing what the balcony scene looks like from the inside audience’s perspective. This must have been around the day when Rachel was swapped out mid-show as she’s quite flat and not sounding as strident as “usual”.

Apologies if the video doesn’t open/play in your browser. The app is tricky sometimes.

A lot of this has been discussed here but MickeyJo’s latest video hints at a couple big issues with this transfer -

Literally all that MickyJo is doing is reading from his phone publicly available articles and extrapolating out from those -- there's no inside info or insight beyond, frankly, what we all do here. I admire his love for theatre, and his ability to parlay that into a successful channel, but there's nothing much beyond that.
