I would love to see Victor Garber do it, too.

There were rumors about Mike Rowe of "Dirty Job" being considered to replace Grammer. I don't know how serious those rumors were, but he'd be inspired casting. He's got a magnificent bass voice and sang with the Baltimore Opera.
You also said he was up for the part originally...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Stritch!
OMG!! If Mike Rowe were to take that gig, I'd be in that theater every night!!
Can't imagine how that would happen though; he's got to be in Pre-Production for Deadliest Catch being that the show comes back in several weeks. And he's the voice over King of Discovery channel. Where would he find the time to do 8 shows without killing himself? All those Ford commercials too!
But still...ooooooh! I'd be there!!
Bernadette Peters?
Mike Meyers was the other rumored name for the part originally too- I wonder if he's been contacted?
Both Mikes--Myers and Rowe--were Internet rumors. Neither was ever seriously considered or seen for the role of Georges.
You guys wouldn't like this suggestion, but I thought Denis Lawson was fantastic in the London production and Philip Quast was brilliant, one of those two would make for a perfect George.
What about Douglas Hodge? Like Jeff Daniels did in 'God of Carnage'.

What about Jeff Daniels?
I've always wanted to see what Harvey himself would do with the role of Georges. As far as I am concerned it's the better of the two roles--less flashy, for sure, but lots of emotional depth for a serious actor to mine.
...or how about John Lithgow?
(agree about Victor Garber)
Dennis Quaid?

I say we bring back Kelsey.....John Lithgow might be a good possibility?
If they brought in Victor Garber, I'd sit through Harvey singing to see the show again.
Victor Garber wins. I'll slip his agent the number for the Weisslers.
well, whoever they get I'm guessing will need at least 2 weeks rehearsal. So did Chris Hoch go on for both shows today?? Anyone know if he'll fill in until a permanent "Georges" is found???
Charles Shaughnessy please!!!!
I suggest Sean McCourt, not only would he suit the role well, he also has experience replacing a star name who abrubtly departed (Joel Grey in Wicked)
I would LOVE to seen John Lithgow take this on, since he has the charismatic personality and charm (similar to Kelsey Grammer) and also a more than halfway decent singing voice.
"John Goodman"
I would be all over that, and I don't even know how well he sings.
And if we can't get Victor Garber... Is Paulo Szot doing anything?
""John Goodman"
I would be all over that, and I don't even know how well he sings."
Actually, I think he's got a really good singing voice. He's sung in a few things he's done in the past.
