John Adams said: "I'm anxious for "...Spiderwoman" to be released "for free", on a pre-paid streaming platform because I do want to see it."
Finally! It's now available on Disney+/Hulu - free w/subscription. I'm watching it tonight.

When Tom Kirdahy shared about the film now being on Disney+ and Hulu on his Instagram stories, I replied with "I rewatched it earlier today. Great job," which he gave a heart reaction to.

I respect what they were trying to do, but it all fell flat to me. Insert a cheap looking J Lo music video into the film every twenty minutes. God bless her, but she’s out of her element. She has no gravitas to play the duality of the character or bring any sense of dread or malevolence. I thought she and Diego Luna were pretty dreadful. Miscast. Tonatiuh was a revelation. Couldn’t save the movie though.
I loved the darkness and melancholy of the original musical. They completely stripped the film of that, which I understand was a choice. Also took out some great music. I get why this movie was completely overlooked by awards. It was a Lifetime movie musical. I know Condon can do darkness well. Gods and Monsters was brilliant.
Missed opportunity on every level. I wonder if they would have gotten more money if a global superstar like Shakira was attached.

Agree with every single word you said, it was disappointing and not the musical I wanted it to be. Why do movie musicals almost always suck? It really is the exception to the norm that they are worth watching compared not just in comparison to the stage counterparts, but at all.
