Even though it was short notice, I’m still glad they announced his departure. I was going to book tickets to see the show in August, but with this announcement, I had to move some stuff around so I could catch Jeremy’s final performance on Sunday night. I saw him in The View Upstairs and Choir Boy and he was phenomenal in both. I would have been upset if I missed him in this. So short notice is better than no notice.

Don’t know the play but I believe they start filming now

I'm sure he's been with the show from the start, so he probably has a year contract and isn't staying.

Genuinely excited to hear why he's leaving so suddenly. After seeing Choir Boy and ATP, I'll watch him in anything. Magnetic talent.

I believe there might be one or two black characters But I can’t say for sure off the top of my head, and I’m not sure what the age range would be for them

They had a 7:30 show tonight, so it’s probably only just ending now.

Caught the 7:30 show last night not knowing it was Jeremy's last performance and honestly not knowing who Jeremy was.
The cast across the board is stellar. And Jeremy Pope was certainly a highlight in a stellar cast.
At the curtain call, he received hugs from several of the lead Temptations Cast and I think they handed him a shirt of something. It was a happy farewell to him.
Ironically, one of the theme's of Ain't too Proud is that everyone's replaceable. So I am sure they will have someone wonderful in store. Maybe not as good; but there is so much talent on that stage.
However, certain performers are truly unreplacable. No one could be Mame like Angela Lansbury; no one could be Fanny Brice like Barbra Streisand et al.
I was surprised how moving and entertaining iAin't Too Proud was for a Juke box musical because I usually don't like them. But Ain't to Proud was really special in terms of entertainment, cast and heart.
A great musical and now that I have seen all the nominees, better than the wonderfully creative Hadestown (in my opinion) and if the Tony People weren't snobby against juke box musicals, it probably is the best musical of the 2019 season.

Just learned that Jelani Remy is taking over the Eddie Kendrix role from Jeremy Pope. Jelani really stood out in a supporting role in Ain't Too Proud and nearly stopped the show.
The part is in great hands. And yesterday was the first time I experienced both Jelani Remy and Jeremy Pope!!!

I was sitting in Row 2 (too close to have enjoyed the show properly, but noticed lots of interesting but unnecessary details) at his last performance and it looked like they gave him a pair of pink granny panties that had been signed by everyone. He also got a standing ovation and prolonged applause after Just My Imagination and he had a couple tears at the end of that song, but not sure if that’s typical or not.
