Jeanette Bayardelle - who played Liza Jane in the 2019 workshop of HK - posted a taste of herself singing the role on her Facebook page while also congratulating Kecia Lewis on completing her Tony winning run, also pointing out that she’s an investor in the show, but Ms Lewis didn’t seem to take kindly. I guess the timing *could* be seen as a little off but KL’s response is not gracious. From what I’ve seen, Bayardelle seems a genuinely good human, as well as a major talent in her own right. Her solo Shida show was particularly fine. Anybody else seen this? Is Lewis that insecure?

not surprised TBH.
This is sad because both Jeanette Bayardelle and Kecia Lewis have amazing singing voices which I really love.
Where can we see first hand what Kecia Lewis said? What does not taking kindly mean?

Honestly, Kecia is acting like an ass.
I can’t believe the mob got Patti to release an apology to this drama queen 😂

that was an epitome of modern Murica
Props to Jeannette for handling that well.
Wow I’m genuinely shocked at Kecia’s post. Kecia’s voice and performance is so distinctive and unique, it’s amazing she actually feels insecure about someone else singing the music after winning the Tony and completing a full run to acclaim. I can easily separate the art from the artist and there is nothing that can take away from Kecia’s achievements.
But as a person this is ridiculous. And while her behaviour is laughable it can have terrible consequences. What Patti has to go through was not ok and the damage to her career/perception of people who were lied to about Patti has been done.
The difference with the Patti situation is Kecia ALMOST got away with it because of the cultural context. In this case, Kecia will not get away with this. It makes herself look petty and pathologically insecure. She will make herself the laughing stock od Broadway. I bet everyone in ‘the business’ will be laughing at this. I almost feel embarrassed for her.
Lost any respect I may have had for Lewis when the Patti thing happened. Kudos to Bayardelle for calling her out. And I agree regarding the cultural aspect in the Patti thing. She doesn't have that to use in this case. And that whole situation was not for her to publicly comment on or call Patti out on. I think she is showing her true "I think I am all that" personality with this. JMO

I will defend kecia. this is 2 problems, not just stealing someone's thunder, but we can assume a wealthier more powerful hk voice choosing to use her superiority to belittle someone in any slight unnoticeable way she thought she could

If the thunder from your Tony winning run in a Broadway hit can be stolen via a Facebook post... I fear we have other issues, my love.

KL is absolutely exhausting. Offended by everything. Bye girl.
So…she’s having a manufactured spat with Jeanette. I honestly wonder what Kecia thinks about Yolanda Adams taking over the role or what would’ve happened if Yolanda posted a video like this? It’s all so bizarre.
I can respect the fact that Ms. Lewis has really put in work to get where she is and finally got some long overdue respect with her Tony Award, but much in the way we roll our eyes when Patti gets pissy, I think it’s come to a point where we’re doing the same when Kecia gets cranky.

Lot of BS being spewed for someone who only got a Tony because Lindsay Mendez called out a bunch.
Unnecessary drama. Jeanette is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Kecia trying to stir things up for no reason.

I don’t actually think she was really high in the mix that year. I honestly think it was coming down to either Lewis or Neuwirth in a field that was seven people wide

??
Jeannette doesn't even have a Wikipedia Page...
Waiting to post the clip until the end of Lewis's run is indeed a classy move.
