THANK YOU. As a "common sense" Democrat, I am starting to dislike the far-left lunatics almost as much as the MAGAts - partly because they are the main reason why we have Trump back in office. No normal person on the left or right wants to deal with this sh*t.

That open letter was cringe.

This is simply false. We have Trump back in office because of the human scum who cast a vote for him. It's not like "some liberals are annoying!" is a valid reason to vote for an authoritarian egomaniac.

Calling over fifty percent of U.S. adults “human scum” is not productive. I hate Trump, but the only way forward is to try to reach a middle ground with the centrists and more moderate Republicans who voted for him. Unless you want a second civil war, that is.
Anyway, moving on…

You're bad at math. Less than 25% of total American population voted for Trump in 2024. Yes, voting for him in 2024 makes them scum.
I sent the interaction between Lewis and Bayardelle to a friend who’s a longtime music director and pit player on Broadway. Got this response. 😂
”I’ve worked with Jeannette. She’s a lovely person and a real talent. I’ve worked with Kecia too. She’s great to watch onstage.”

If I'm willing to use that label for my sister and my now deceased father, I'm unbothered by the fact that you deem it unproductive.
Everyone is allowed to have their own feelings. All feelings are valid. But the general public not condoning or encouraging the behavior of a known drama queen doesn’t negate her ability to have her own feelings about things. It’s just suggesting that she needs to learn to self-soothe and pick her battles instead of starting off-stage drama every few months.
In my view, part of what got Trump elected is also a large amount of us not feeling confident enough to shut down the race card/prejudice-baiting behavior the moment it comes up. We are allowed to feel however we want to, but we shouldn’t clutch our pearls the moment an Ensemble525600 or BorisPutin or YankeeDani or BreadBowl feels like stirring the pot. It’s tolling behavior that we’re giving oxygen to. People have taken advantage of other people’s empathy by hijacking their ability to choose whether or not something is actually a problem or not…

i am fine calling trump voters scum, but only if we can also recognize a large swatch of leftist purists helped get him elected, either (a) by refusing to vote for Kamala because they disagreed with her on any given policy, even though Trump was worse on each and every one by a mile, or (b) by shoving certain issues down the throats of moderate voters in a way that sent them running into trump's arms.
this thread smacks of (b)--not because anyone will ever get me to even think about voting for a fascist (and i really take a backseat to NO ONE in my disgust for Trump and his merry band of monsters), but because there is a certain brain rot that scares so many americans, and you can see it here in this thread.
if i say i think kecia lewis is full of sht for calling patti lupone a racist or for slamming jeanette bayardelle for no discernible reason, i myself am called a racist for criticizing kecia lewis, which is simply insane. particularly now when the criticism stems from her mistreatment of...another black woman. this is simply poisonous delusional thinking.
Senator Tim Scott is a Trump sycophant who is also Black. He is a horrible sniveling person. Am i racist for saying so? Are you all racists for agreeing with me? Its no different with Kecia Lewis, or anyone of any color who is criticized or judged for the garbage coming out their mouths. And everytime you try to shut down that criticism by screaming racism at objectively non-racist people, Trump (and the successors to his movement), win.
When did "race card" become an acceptable term to use?

You are not going to police our language. If you don't like it, don't use it. If you can't tell the difference between legitimate grievances and playing the race card, that's on you.
I don't like it. I find it abhorrent, and demeaning to the whole of human history.
Anyway, I didn't police your language, I simply asked a question. I genuinely wondered if the term had evolved from the time when only morons used it.

Oh, and what got Trump elected:
1. The party in complete denial about Biden's popularity
2. The party in complete denial about Kamala's popularity
3. The party coronating a new candidate instead of letting voters choose
4. Kamala's inability to say the words "cease fire" without upsetting her handlers.
5. Kamala's inability to have even one idea that was imaginative or unique.
6. The obscene rising prices of everything under Biden.
7. Yet ANOTHER election where the only message was "I'm not Trump."
But yeah, keep blaming the anti-genocide and trans and DEI advocates like you do and keep making the same. Damn. Mistakes. Again.
Oh, and yes "Race card" is a racist statement...yet another thing the centrists picked up from the right wing and adopted as their own.
A lot of you guys are very clearly out of your depth when talking about race. Nuanced thinking is a learned skill, and apparently not a very intuitive one.

We don't care what you find abhorrent. If it makes you better to call people names, that's fine. Others here are able to make their point without it.

Everything after your first point is completely false. If you think Kamala merely said "I'm not Trump " then you weren't paying any attention. But thanks for sharing dumb, tired talking points.

I still can't agree with this. Your argument relies on the fact that there is any rationale at all for casting a vote for Trump, and there is not. He could not have gotten elected without human scum casting a vote for him, regardless of either of your points. The total of non-human-scum votes for Trump is precisely zero.

No. Regardless of any of that, Trump could not have gotten elected if we didn't have human scum living among us. If we didn't have human scum living among us, he would have gotten zero votes. Again, "some liberals are saying crazy things!" is not even remotely a defensible reason for voting for an authoritarian nutcase like Trump.

"
I thought I was pretty clear, but Ill try again: there is no excuse for voting for trump. in fact, the first thing i said was that he won because too many "liberals" or "progressives" either voted for him or for third party candidates based on some pet issue or grievance against Kamala/Democrats. We are agreeing there is no excuse for voting for Trump, or sitting out the election, or doing anything to allow him to come close to power. I get you're trying real hard to get everyone to agree with your human scum point, and its a bit much, but.....i agreed with that premise in the very first words i wrote. literally.
so im not defending trump voters or accepting any rationale for voting for him. but i am explaining how/why some people ended up either voting for him or sitting out the election- and those are facts.

I don't know who your comment was aimed at, but I do see nuance.
I don't think Patti was racist toward Kecia. I don't think Kecia was using "the race card" against Patti. I think Kecia may be scarred from six decades on this racist earth, and understandably so. The fault in that sorry situation lies with society. With the recent skirmish, I think it was a misunderstanding of intent and tone. That happens all the time on the internet and to me, is not a big deal. Kecia Lewis is not a bad person, and neither is Jeanatte Baardelle. In the grand scheme of things, it is not a big deal. If it was two Walmart workers, we would not care even a little bit. Broadway performers are only human too.
I too am only human, of course, and accept my reading of events could be inaccurate.

You've called me dumb on previous occasions. You refer to another poster's comments here as dumb.
At least practice what you preach.
