Carmen Pavlovic, C.E.O. of Global Creatures, the company behind the phenomenal world-wide success, Walking with Dinosaurs - the Arena Spectacular, has announced that a creative team has been assembled and work has begun on KING KONG - Live on Stage, an entirely new production conceived for the Broadway stage. KING KONG - Live on Stage is authorized by the estate of Merian C. Cooper (Creator of KING KONG and director of the 1933 film).
KING KONG - Live on Stage is the latest project from the Australian-based Global Creatures, an international entertainment group that develops new and exciting theatrical productions to take to audiences all around the world. Their animatronics arm, The Creature Technology Company invents and deploys the latest in animatronic design. Global Creatures is the company behind the hugely successful Walking with Dinosaurs - the Arena Spectacular, which established a new entertainment genre that has been seen by millions of people and broken box office records in Australia, Europe, Asia and North America since its inception in 2007. Earlier this year, Global Creatures announced a collaboration with DreamWorks Animation to conceive and execute an arena show based on the film How to Train Your Dragon.

although a classic tale, do not make it a spectacle....

The last time they brought Kong to Broadway he ran off and climbed up the Empire State Building. Won't they ever learn?
Ugh... why? How and where does this property actually "sing" to anyone?

Why don't they just rename Times Square Las Vegas East, and get it over with?

Ann steps downstage. She gathers her thoughts and sings
KING KONG!
I JUST MET AN APE NAMED KING KONG!
AND SUDDENLY THAT NAME WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
TO ME!
We've now got a photo as well of King Kong under construction @

I can't even begin to fathom how this would work.

It will feature an all-midget cast, so Kong won't have to be too big.
Jen Cody as Ann.

JoeKv99, this made me choke on my water! LOLOL!! :)
This is right up there in the realms of Carrie. What prompted anyone to make a musical of this? "One of the greatest love stories of all time"? Hahahahahaha. Wow.

I'm really longing for a day when spectacle gets back to meaning talented people showing off their craft on stage rather than depending on spiderwebs and animatronic gorillas.
I'm sure Kong himself will close act one with the power ballad,
"GRARG RRAAAAAHHH GARGH BRAAARRGG!!"
Show down: Technical difficulties
That photo reminds me of the ride they use to have in universal studios.

You can watch it there lol
Although, when you think about it, how different does this sound from The Lion King?
I'm intrigued. It will be interesting if nothing else. The story seems very operatic.

The real difference between this and "The Lion King" would be the use of abstract, though, wouldn't it? Like King Kong is going to be a huge animatronic puppet, not some burly guy wearing a headdress.
Paper elephant - animatronic monkey... seems like splitting hairs to me.

What theatre do you all think this could end up in? It's got to be one with a large stage and large capacity. I'm thinking the Broadway theatre would be the current front runner for the show.
Or the Marquee would be good for it.

I hope Spidey and Kong battle it out in balloon form at the Macy's parade. These shows are going to run foreverrrrrr (not).
((Nods head))).. I honestly don't know what to say about this one. Although, I am enjoying all your comments about it.. hilarious!
