Entertainment Weekly is pretty negative overall, but they give it a C, which I find weird: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20364394_20755800,00.html

Entertainment Weekly sucks, they usually get everything horribly wrong. They even got a few names of songs wrong in several reviews, I actually had to point them out for correction.
These reviews don't matter much, the show is selling well and it's already been extended. People seemed to love it when I saw it.
These reviews don't matter much
Considering the creative team practically threw out the entire La Jolla version and started fresh, I don't think they'd agree with you. I'm sure they were hoping for better reviews and the option to transfer to Broadway.
That's fair. I will say it doesn't matter much to Second Stage Theatre. Also, despite bad reviews, many shows have transferred to Broadway and have seen successful.

yep, so much for a transfer, whoever thought turning this into such a bland safe musical was a moron.
I'm glad the reviews are not good for the show because it will hopefully show the creative team that the show has potential, but it still has a long way to go in order to make it somewhat of a good show.
Sutton Ross: How long has it been extended?

Oh boy. These are bad.
And a C for Entertainment Weekly is practically an F. They are generally afraid to get blood on their hands.

Oh my God, David Rooney: "This vanilla musical makeover transforms a bittersweet family portrait into an insipid cartoon."
"Sutton Ross: How long has it been extended?"
Through December 15th!
Entertainment Weekly is b*ll****. They report on things like "Snooki and JWoww". They don't matter in the world of theater. I wonder how the Times or another publication that actually matters rated it.

I didn't love the show without reservation, but man, these reviews are harsh! To flat-out say the show is bad or it curdles! I've never read views this scathing. I feel bad for the cast and the creatives, even though I guess this is all part of being in the theater.

I feel like the reviews read harsher then usual because this isnt like the first go around for this show, the fact you totally rewrite the score and still can't get it done, thats a problem.

I dunno….with reviews like this, I see that extension getting cancelled.

If this show was on Broadway, I couldn't help but think that this show would close because the reviews. Is that the case with an Off Broadway show too? Is there a chance this could close early?
No. It's a tiny theater with musical theater staples in it. It'll last through the run, but I'm sure they were all hoping for a life after 2nd Stage, and I'm sure 2nd Stage was hoping for another Spelling Bee type hit.
Thanks, RippedMan, for adding to my signature.
Ouch. Yup, this is not going to be on Broadway...

Second Stage always thinks that their shows are going to Broadway and they never are. NOBODY LOVES YOU had the same hopes and I actually thought it was worse than this.
