Well, in that case, I think it's absurd that you suddenly have all jurisdiction to proclaim expression of an opinion complete abandonment of manners. I have many times on this board wished Ms. Benanti the best in her recovery. I still maintain my right to express my opinions on the matter, and I have not once been party to those who knock her for missing performances.

Abandonment of manners would be telling you, sir, in no uncertain terms that I am tired of your cryptic acts as if you think you are doing the world a service as the peacekeeper in disguise and that you selectively turn your nose up to protect the selected holy individuals, as if you can act to push everything in your own hand-selected direction. Who are you to decide what is discussed where? Plenty of threads go off the prescribed topic, and I don't see you getting twisted about each and every one of them. You're so suddenly in charge? Don't speak as if you have never disagreed. And my lack of manners, I suppose, makes it okay for me to tell you that I think that's bullsh*t. I'm sorry, but I am of no such belief that being a well-mannered person indicates that dissent is never a possibility.

nomdeplume, Emcee's initial post was not meanspirited, offensive, nasty, cruel, cold hearted, or anything of that nature.

You are being incredibly dramatic here, and I'm not sure why you have taken it upon yourself to deem what this thred is about, should be about, and what content should be posted here.

I have nothing against iluv or Laura Benanti - I think she's a fine actress, and I have been obsessed with her voice since I first saw her in SWING! - but mine and Emcee's personal opinions in regards to both Benanti and/or iluvtheatretrash have no bearing whatsoever in this thread.

She merely commented on how we are constantly beat over the head with the "I'm Best friends with Laura Benanti" thing, and that she would never behave in that manner because she believes that it's crossing a line of sorts.

Forgive me for speaking for Emcee, but I feel confident in saying that her intentions and words were completely undeserving of all this negative attention and absurd banter from you.

Takes the words for what they are and don't look into them for personal bias - then, perhaps, maybe you won't feel the need to come to the rescue for a person/situation that merits no rescue.

They lack the understanding to realize what bad manners it is in the thread of a sick woman.

They are so fixated upon themselves they cannot see how bad the behavior is.

Well, I have a feeling with all Laura's gone through, and with the sensible things she communicated to you, iluv, that she can overlook and forgive their nonsense and look ahead to her own future, which I hope will be filled with good health.

Suffering an illness can give one depth and perspective. A new value to and way of looking at life itself. It is very humbling.

I remember being in the hospital and watching bags of other people's blood hanging above me, dripping to me via the I.V. tubes, saving my life. And how humble I felt to all those unknown people who had rolled up their, to me, anonymous sleeves to give me the gift of retaining my life. A big debt that I can never really repay. It is a kind of gift that teaches you a deep compassion. And to appreciate the very fact of being alive, that you previously took for granted.

Got it, MC. I guess I was unfairly lumping you in with others who were making a similar point to yours in more mocking terms ("BFF", etc). My bad.

Maybe "not the place" could have been better worded. What I mean to say is that, while I don't think we need to hear about iluv's relationship with Laura all the time, I don't think you all are exactly right either. I just don't feel that everything needs to turn into an argument about how he is "BFF's" with Laura and how everyone is sick of hearing that. We know (that goes ot both sides of the argument). Iluv didn't post the topic in the first place, so I say just either discuss the topic, or get off of bwayondabrain's thread and continue the discussion elsewhere.

Also, if you guys backtrack, I had to defend myself against a completely unnecessary comment from Foster. I simply confirmed what Patrick announced. And then was berated by Foster.

Is that really my fault?


Also, if you step back and look at my original post, nowhere do I go on and on about the relationship. I confirmed it twice in the post, and for the most part was defending the belief that my information is uncredible - which it has NEVER proved to be.
