Doesn't Ryan Murphy no longer have the rights to Funny Girl?

Yes! She aced her interview at Olive Garden at the Broadway/Times Square location. Kudos!

Until last October, he still had the rights and Lea was talking that she did a concert with many songs of the score. She also said that she told Ryan that now she feels that she's ready to play the part.

I'd welcome just about anything but Funny Girl, her past performances of the score were always so wooden.

I wonder if there are other revivals quietly being worked on she's attached to?

Good Lord, I would hope not.

Until this new project is announced by other people involved and mention her, I tend not to believe anything she says. She is very much into self promotion. Her TV show just got cancelled, she is looking for work!

Eliza in Hamilton?

She has her summer concert tour coming up with Darren Criss.

True, but that's short term ("summer"
And I don't think they will be in big concert venues

She's so wooden and is too put-together in a way. Any role requiring an ounce of roughness, grit, or quirkiness is terribly wrong for her. That's the main reason I can't stand the idea of her as Elphaba in the Wicked movie. Act One needs the quirk and tomboyishness, Act Two she's glamorous, but she's still kind of gritty (in the best performances, anyway).
Sorry to derail, I just have a strong STRONG opinion of her.

Not so. Sonia Friedman Productions has had the Broadway option since securing rights for The West End.
Keep. Her. Away. Lady Gaga, please!

Lea Michele can act and sing circles around Lady GaGa.
But you know, people just don't like her. I think she would be great as Elphaba and Fanny Brice, but at this point both projets seems odd to cast her after such a long time.

What are you basing that on? Lady Gaga was very effective in AMERICAN HORROR STORY, and the advance word of mouth on her performance in A STAR IS BORN is quite positive? As far as singing --- you think Lea Michele is a better singer? Really??

I don't necessarily like her as a person, but I will agree that she has talent. I can't see her as Fanny (she's not proven to be funny), I can't see her as Elphaba in the movie (we need a true powerhouse singer). I think that the way that would benefit her the most, would be to come back to Broadway in something original that is written for her skill set and abilities.
