Even if that were the case - surely Leah could just record an EP of the Fanny numbers in a studio recording. Doesn’t have to truly be a cast recording and it’s it like people are really clamoring for songs other than Fanny’s.
Wow @ the Katherine Styne screen grabs. High praise. She's right, I think her father would be thrilled. His nearly 60 year old musical is selling out nightly and more people than ever are getting to hear his music. Special. Not to mention Lea's the one who introduced multiple new generations to his songs on Glee. It's all somehow too much to process when you really think of the meta-ness of the situation. Lea and her team should be incredibly proud for how they've navigated this entire "comeback." She's nailing all of it.

I could be wrong as well, but I believe that was said earlier in this thread as a "this might be the case" speculation sort of thing. I really hope that, should that be the case, because her contract was not fulfilled, that is no longer an issue. Because I would love a Lea EP, but I'm also really hoping for a full cast recording. But beggars can't be choosers! We're lucky we got People and are (according to social media) getting I'm The Greatest Star.
They/them.
"Get up the nerve to be all you deserve to be."
Mary Tyler Moore received a special TONY™️ when she replaced Tom Conti in Whose Life Is It Anyway. Aren’t special awards hashed out by the committee during the yearly rules meeting for all the season’s shows?

wow if they did that after hearing her sing the producers are even dumber than previously displayed
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."

Well, they cast her in the leading role after hearing her sing, so their intelligence is definitely lacking.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
19 Broadway shows will also perform at the October 2 concert, including A Beautiful Noise, A Strange Loop, Aladdin, & Juliet, Beetlejuice, The Book of Mormon, Chicago, Death of a Salesman, Funny Girl, Hadestown, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Into the Woods, The Lion King, MJ The Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, The Music Man, The Phantom of the Opera, Six, and Wicked."
Ouch. And I know y'all know what part I'm talking about. Insert Simpson gif.
But yes, Ms. Styne, new cast recording, please!"
With that and this below: You just know Michael Mayer and Sonia Friedman are regretting so much their decision to cast the totally wrong Beanie Feldstein as Fanny... such an embarassment for her career in a role that she was not ''born'' to play but now they have Lea as Fanny (receiving raves) in a role she was ''BORN'' to play and the wonderful Julie Benko on Thursdays moving forward. I bet this show will sell out nightly for the rest of the year - Everyone in NYC is talking about Lea and wanting to see Funny Girl now!
SouthernCakes said: "Not sure how that works once Beanie quit. Maybe it makes all that null and void since she didn’t fulfill her contractual dates?"
I'm going to make an educated guess that part of the deal with her leaving addressed the issue of a cast recording, particularly since, I believe, Beanie and Lea have/had the same agent. I'm certain that was a top issue in Lea joining the cast.
Luminaire2 said: "Would a contract matter if the contract has now ended due to early exit? Is the contract not simply null and void at this point?"
I truly don't know. My thought was only when Lea was negotiating that element was covered. As for her contract being null and void with her leaving, I'm still going to think her people (father/management company) knew what was going on in her mind and something was negotiated. She did continue to perform.

1) That audience is clearly there for Lea. Let the girl finish a freaking song before you start applauding so ferociously! Aren’t you there because you want to HEAR her?
2) I detested the pacing of this. After an entire act, you rush through the number that everyone’s been waiting for?! Cut something else and let us revel in that moment.
3) Nicky Arnstein’s Luck Be a Lady moment?! No. Ramin is many things, but a dancer he ain’t.
4) That set? Hideous. Worst thing about the show.
5) I want to hug Jared Grimes.
6) Tovah was good, but not great. Something felt off.
7) The card playing kibbitzing ladies were my favorites.
8) Was I watching Lea Michele do Barbra, Lea Michele do Fanny, or Lea Michele doing Rachel Berry doing one of those ladies? There were a lot of layers to unpack.
I had no interest before, but I felt like between the Beanie drama and the Lea hullabaloo, I had to see it with my own eyes. Glad I did."
YES to #1 especially. I understand the audience is very excited to see Lea perform, but can we wait until the song concludes first? Has the audience been doing this at recent shows still?
It shouldn’t need to be said —but I wonder if specific shows would benefit from adding something along the lines of “We’re just as excited to have you in our audience today as you are to be here, but please hold all applause until the conclusion of each song!” to the pre-show announcement?
Jesse Green's excellent review in the NYTimes lights on the overzealous fans and how the production in general panders to the big audience reactions, even as it throws off its star.
We saw the OG cast of this production and Friday night saw the new cast. This is a completely different show. Not only is Michele light years better than Beanie in very aspect of the role, but Tovah Feldshuh series is infinitely better than Jane Lynch as Fanny’s mother. It’s impossible to state how much better the show is today.
If they had stated with this cast, it’s have been a runaway hit. No clue what the producers were thinking.

This!!! I get everyone is excited to see Lea Michele but come on, wait until the song concludes first. I really hope they look into making a pre-show announcement about this.
