I'd have to say "We're Okay".

I Feel Pretty. Bernstein still provided a nice instrumental reaction to the lyrics, and a bridge, but the song as a whole pales to anything else in West Side Story.

This is weird, out of all the songs in RENT people dislike the Tango Maureen, Today 4 U, and Santa Fe?

Nobody can't stand Without You and loves all of the above? Or is that just me...

I can't stand We're Not Sorry from Urinetown half the time and half the time I love it.

and there's one song that I'm blanking on in Into the Woods that I don't love... it goes like "...Mother isn't here now.." or something

"One Hand, One Heart" from West Side Story

I love every song from West Side Story, but the melody of One Hand One Heart is my least favorite and I don't feel the need for another love duet between Tony and Maria, especially since there are only two songs between "Tonight" and "One Hand One Heart". Between the two songs, I prefer "Tonight" MUCH more.

Oh theater addict...I guess OHOH wouldn't be the best from WSS, but still...it's so beautiful. Even the melody aside, the instrumental opening, middle break, and ending is some of the most gorgeous sounding music ever written.

Then again, I can't argue with you too much if it's your favorite musical too re: Least Faorite song

And it is really hard to pick a least favorite from it...

Bwaybabe...No One is Alone? Aww, that's one of my ITW favs.

It is hard to pick a favorite from WSS...I don't hate OHOH, but if I had to choose a least favorite I would choose it. OHOH, like you said, is a beautiful song, but its right between Cool and the Tonight Quintet, which are personal favorites of mine.

But it is hard to choose "the best" song from WSS. Every song is so beautiful.

Ooh ditto. My friend asked me to pick my one favorite song from it. I think my answer was something like...Prologue, Dance at the Gym, Maria, America, Cool, Tonight Quintet, the Rumble, Schierzo, Somewhere, Gee Officer Krupke, A Boy Like That, and Finale. My one song.

In all honestly if really pressed, I'd probably go with Cool. It's my absolute favorite song to play. I have so much fun playing it. Though the Rumble may be the best song...not only b/c it's the most challenging, but the most like...what genius came up with this song/sound?? Then again the Tonight Quintet was probably the most...amazing, influential song style...but of all the "pretty" songs, I put Maria right before Somewhere.

Eh, I don't see how you can put I Feel Pretty over One Hand, One Heart.

As much as I love the character of Gavroche in Les Miz, I don't like the longer version of Little People.

In RENT... my least favorite song has GOT to be "Without You" (I agree bwaybabe3!)... please don't kill me, but ESPECIALLY the way Daphne sings it. I found it so much more tolerable when I heard Rosario. And it doesn't make me want to fall over asleep soo much when I'm watching it (either on stage or on the screen). I have to skip it when I just listen to it.

BKLYN is another fave, but it's really hard to pick a song since it flows so differently especially when you think of it track by track. The one part I just cannot STAND in a great song: when Ramona sings "bleed" near the end of "Raven." Other than that, I love it, but going back and forth between those notes... I don't like it much.

All Shook Up: I like all the songs with the exception to the beginning of "Let Yourself Go." It's for no other reason than I just dislike the damn drumming. I know, it's stupid, but because it's at the beginning I tend to not listen to that song.

Wicked: "Something Bad." It's bad except for being necessary to the plot.

Heaven Help My Heart from Chess.

It's so generic, pointless, and annoying.

Since I feel I have yet to see my "favorite" show I'll go with Rent.

I really don't like "What You Own".

As much as I love her, Mrs. Brice's songs from FUNNY GIRL. I was tempted to say "People" as it is SOOO overplayed and oversung and has become a joke almost, but it really is beautiful at the core.

"No Place Like London" is annoying to me usually, although pivitol to the story. And "Ah, Miss" is boring compared to "Johanna" and "Kiss Me."

And sue me but "It Takes Two" is brilliant lyrically and sweet...but I skip it sometimes. And "So Happy."

Good survey. Here are my least favorite songs from My Favorite Plays:
1. The Heat Is On - Miss Saigon
2. Why God Why - Miss Saigon
3. All of Dr. Dillamond and Fiyero's songs - Wicked. The duet with Elphaba was ok.
4. A Puzzlement - The King and I
5. Prologue - The Color Purple.
6. Let's Have Lunch - Sunset Blvd.

I agree with Munk. Apparently, most regional productions skip it all together. I think they skipped it in the movie too. I think it's the most beautiful song, written in a perfect key.

I think I'd pick If I Were A Bell from G&D.

Munk, I'm pretty shocked that in your list of favs there is no Sondheim show. Just an observation. I was never a BBB fan.

And everyone's picking my favorite songs from Into the Woods...

The Heat is on in Saigon is a decent choice, but I disagree with Why--I love that song! If I had to choose one from that show, I would pick If You Wanna Die in Bed--decent, but not as great as the others.

Well, the shows I listed aren't my favorites, but they're among my favorites.

My favorite shows area all Sondheim - but I can't think of any songs I don't like.

I went through all the scores - COMPANY, SUNDAY, WOODS, SWEENEY...I just can't think of one song that I dislike.

I love Last 5 Years but I don't really like Climbing Uphill. I usually skip it when it comes up. But it may be because it is right before a couple of my FAVORITE songs in the show.

Arghh! Grammar pet peeve #1: your vs you're. "Your" is a possessive pronoun. "You're" is the contraction of "you are." <<

Least favorite does not mean you dislike it. If I can go through the pain of picking a least favorite West Side song, you can go through the pain of picking a least favoritge Sondheim song :-P

Okay. I understand. I will now go through the painstaking process of thinking of my LEAST favorite SONDHEIM shows...

COMPANY: "Barcelona", "Poor Baby"
FOLLIES: "Rain on the Roof," "One More Kiss," "Loveland,"
INTO THE WOODS: "Hello Little Girl," "Agony"
ASSASSINS: "Ballad of Guiteau"
SUNDAY: "The Day Off"

I'm not sure, but I always skip it on the album. It might have something to do with the fact that I've had the lyrics memorized since I was 10, and I've just gotten so used to them. It's remarkably witty, though - there's no denying that.
