What about Lea Salonga as Fantine, Will Chase as Marius and Maane Dionisio as Eponine?
"I love acting. It is so much more real than life." Oscar Wilde "After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music." Aldous Huxley
For me Jean ValJean is Craig Schulman. When he sings "Bring Him Home", even in his concerts I cry. I know everyone here is going to think I'm nuts but I think Tom Wopat (Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago,Guys and Dolls, etc) would make a great Javier. His voice is powerful enough, and I think he would make a good antagonist.
I know this is a great time for a super-star knock-out cast, but in all honesty, I would enjoy seeing a cast with unkowns in it. It's an incredible way to get names out there. (unlikely, but incredible)
I'll see it regardless of who's name is on the marquee
Mary Testa would be wonderful, but I say, give it to Jennifer Butt. I mean, she's OBC and still going strong with the current tour....just...let her continue on to Broadway.
Valjean - Michael Ball Javert - BSM Fantine - Audra Eponine - undecided Marius - Hunter Foster Mme. Thernadier - Mary Testa (loved this idea) Enjolras - Brian D'Arcy Cos - Kelli O Hara
Hmmm. Jumping on the Stokes for Javert band wagon-- I love that man's voice beyond all reason. Hmmm-- what about Laura Benanti as Cosette? I know she's involved with "The Wedding Singer," but I think that she would be beautiful. Sarah Uriarte Berry or Marin Mazzie for Fantine; I don't know if Marin could be considered too old or not, but I think that her voice would blend amazingly with Fantine's songs. Michael Arden as Marius could be interesting (if he has the range-- I'm not terribly familiar with him, but I think he's adorable) and if the casting people were merciful, they'd cast a non-screamer (like the beautiful Celia Keenan-Bolger) as Eponine. Stephen Pasquale as Enjolras. That's all I can think of for now-- any good Thenardier recs? Updated On: 2/18/06 at 06:37 PM
Celia as Eponine to me seems to be a good casting choice. She has a beautiful voice. I love her on the Spelling Bee cast recording. Her Momma Momma Mommaa! in the I Love You Song is fantastic. edit I also want to share in the Kelli O'Hara love. The title song of Piazza is stunning and so addicting.
I'm kind of a sweat pant, t-shirt, no make-up type of girl. So once a year, I can get spiffy.
