Wow, Audra as Fantine? That's a good choice too.
What about Lea Salonga as Fantine, Will Chase as Marius and Maane Dionisio as Eponine?
oooo. i didn't think of that. if ruthie henshall doesn't do fantine, i would love audra mcdonald as fantine. that would be brilliant!
Just throwin' in a vote for Elena Shaddow as Cosette!

For me Jean ValJean is Craig Schulman. When he sings "Bring Him Home", even in his concerts I cry.
I know everyone here is going to think I'm nuts but I think Tom Wopat (Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago,Guys and Dolls, etc) would make a great Javier. His voice is powerful enough, and I think he would make a good antagonist.

I wasn't aware they were going to change the characters' names, too...
Lizzie - of course they are!
And Eponine will now be Epoten!
Or Epoteen? That would work so well with her biggest fan base.
Yes. I was going with the number things. As the part has become robotic.
Epoteen would work.
And Valjean would be Valgrandma?

Clearly. Idina Menzel. In every role. It could be a one woman production.
how about a black Eponine... Saycon anyone?
Well, she wouldn't be Shanice, which is already a point in her favor.
*snort*
Anyway, I think Nikki Renee Daniels would be a wonderful Eponine -- or Cosette.
I'm really glad that I'm not the first to suggest Judy Kuhn as Fantine.
I love the idea of Judy playing the mother of her original character.
I'm also glad that Audra McDonald has been brought up. I doubt that would happen though. She doesn't usually do revivals these days, it seems.
Valjean - Michael Ball
Javert - Brian Stokes Mitchell
Fantine - Judy Kuhn
Thenardier - Greg Jbara
Mme. Thenardier - Mary Testa
I'm going to second the Audra as Fantine vote.
I know this is a great time for a super-star knock-out cast, but in all honesty, I would enjoy seeing a cast with unkowns in it. It's an incredible way to get names out there. (unlikely, but incredible)
I'll see it regardless of who's name is on the marquee
The role is WAY too small for Audra.
And I don't see Audra playing the bulletboy...
She doesn't have to. Melba Moore and Laurie Beechman didn't play the bullet boy.
I know.
But I was just picturing Audra playing the bullet boy...
From tony winner - to bullet boy.

Mary Testa would be wonderful, but I say, give it to Jennifer Butt. I mean, she's OBC and still going strong with the current tour....just...let her continue on to Broadway.
I like my Thenardier's tall and thin and my Madame's short and plump.
Valjean - Michael Ball
Javert - BSM
Fantine - Audra
Eponine - undecided
Marius - Hunter Foster
Mme. Thernadier - Mary Testa (loved this idea)
Enjolras - Brian D'Arcy
Cos - Kelli O Hara
will someone please explain who BSM is? thank you. i have no idea what these initials stand for.
Brian Stokes Mitchell, who has been mentioned several times in this thread.

Hmmm. Jumping on the Stokes for Javert band wagon-- I love that man's voice beyond all reason. Hmmm-- what about Laura Benanti as Cosette? I know she's involved with "The Wedding Singer," but I think that she would be beautiful. Sarah Uriarte Berry or Marin Mazzie for Fantine; I don't know if Marin could be considered too old or not, but I think that her voice would blend amazingly with Fantine's songs. Michael Arden as Marius could be interesting (if he has the range-- I'm not terribly familiar with him, but I think he's adorable) and if the casting people were merciful, they'd cast a non-screamer (like the beautiful Celia Keenan-Bolger) as Eponine. Stephen Pasquale as Enjolras. That's all I can think of for now-- any good Thenardier recs?

I'd love to see Joseph Anthony Foronda do it.
Celia as Eponine to me seems to be a good casting choice. She has a beautiful voice. I love her on the Spelling Bee cast recording. Her Momma Momma Mommaa! in the I Love You Song is fantastic.

I also want to share in the Kelli O'Hara love. The title song of Piazza is stunning and so addicting.
