Why not an Asian Eponine? There have been black Eponines (Shanice, remember her?) and black Fantines (Melba Moore).
CM is just looking to make a quick buck, as if he needs more money. It's way too soon to revive this show, and, now, it's even eligible for a Best Revival Tony Nomination! Absurd.
I love me some Lea. She's amazing and owns this role in a lot of people's minds. She's also a countrywoman of mine. However, didn't she say that she would be taking a break from show business for awhile. I hate that she decided to do this though.
I would love Sutton and Lea though as Eponine (though neither will happen).
Lovin' the idea of BSM as Javert. It's giving me the warm fuzzies.
And I want some Audra. I don't care how but she needs to be there.
I personally dislike her in the role, i don't really like her in much of anything... plus i think she is a little old to be dawning the trench coat once again....
i wonder which version of Les Mis they will do?.... probally an updated 45 minitue version
Lea's going to be busy being a new mommy, so no LES MIZ for her. Though I would watch it if she played Fantine. Anyway, I doubt she'll return to NYC anytime soon, as she's giving birth and planning to raise her kid in Manila.
Will this revival be the original version, or will it be the one that was trimmed down by 15 minutes or so for cost-reduction purposes? Updated On: 2/17/06 at 06:45 PM
any chance Aymee Garcia would take the role as Madame, I saw her and she was HILARIOUS! Especially next to Nick Wymann! Diana Kaarina was a great Eponine, but I truly love Lea in the role!
ruthie or julia as fantine would be wonderful. and popular, julia is only in wicked until september and she has already said she will not be extending. so ya never know.
Michael Ball seems like the only member of the original London cast ( other than Colm W and Patti Lupone) who has been suggested here for a role in the Broadway revival. He created the role of Marius in the original RSC/Mackintosh production at the Barbican ( where, according to him, the song EMPTY CHAIRS was almost deleted during previews). It is a role that he has reprised in the 10th Anniversary Concert and which he has sung in 3 albums ( OLC, Complete Symphonic Recording and 10th Anniversary Concert).
Plus he was especially asked to sing the role of Jean Valjean for the WINDSOR CASTLE concert for the Queen and President Chirac.
What I would like to see is for him to sing the role of Jean Valjean in the HYDE PARK 21st Anniversary Celebration ( supposedly to be covered by BBC-World)...and then proceed to re-enact the role on Broadway!
Valjean - Michael Ball!! Javert - Michael Cerveris Enjorlas - Hugh Jackman would be nice or Grant Norman Marius - Aaron Lazar Eponine - favorite character but, i don't know... Sutton Foster Cosette - Katie Clarke or Sarah Uriarte Berry Fantine - Ruthie Henshall!!
LET OTHERS RISE TO TAKE OUR PLACE UNTIL THE EARTH IS FREE!
How I wish Sutton could do it. Oh well I'll have to try and catch her in Drowsy Chaperone. Although i hear Sutton was quite amazing back her Eponine days.
I'm kind of a sweat pant, t-shirt, no make-up type of girl. So once a year, I can get spiffy.
Sutton Foster :)
I have the feeling that Lea will do it. But she wont be staying for the whole run, even though that is the standard contract. I just hope she'll be Fantine. I dont know if it would fit her though. But her Eponine is perfect.
Valjean ~ Randal Keith Javert ~ Raul Esparza Marius ~ Max von Essen Thenardier ~ Nick Wyman Madame Thenardier ~ Liz McCartney Fantine ~ Julia Murney
I read somewhere that once Michael Ball recovers from his current illness and fulfills some concert obligations; he will be in the London production of Les Miz, in the role of Javert.
i think norbert leo butz as marius would be incredible, though a little old, norbert has a young face. or even matthew morrison, he is just amazing. end of story. and someone said a few pages ago john lithgow as thenardier and i agree with flying colors. lea salonga for eponine ALL THE WAY, i think it's not even up for discussion, her name is written all over it. and KELLI O'HARA FOR COSETTE! she would be perfect beyond compare!! THREE CHEERS FOR LES MIZ!!!!!!! <3
hear my song; it was made for the time when you don't know where to go, listen to the song that i sing, you'll be fine..
Michael Ball as Javert is also an excellent suggestion - can you imagine his voice singing the incredible STARS and THE SOLILOQUY:Javert's Suicide? And the role can have a more dramatic appeal than Valjean in some respects.
yeah, she said she has so intentions of extending because 6 months away from the city and her voice over career is long enough as it is. they originally wanted her to stay for a full year but she said no. on an interview she just finished doing with seth rudetsky he had her sing the first few bars of i dreamed a dream and it was just awesome. i would love for her to play this role, but like i said if they get ruthie henshall you won't hear me complaining either haha.
