I'd really love to see Philip Quast finally comes to U.S. as Javert but I understand he'd be in Evita (unless it's a flop and close really early) this year.
When I hear "Marquee Names," I imagine someone who is a household name, like a TV or movie star. I mean all these people you guys mentioned are known among us theatre geeks but not among the general public. So my guess is that Mac will bring two major (TV/movie) stars for Valjean and Javert and fill the other principle roles from the theatre industry people. Otherwise, if he brings all these Broadway stars (A list), imagine the payroll, which directly will be reflected on the ticket prices. I will not pay $100 to see Les Mis (unless Philip or Stokes will be Javert).
Some others have had the same ideas as myself. What a nice twist it would be to see Lea Salonga to Fantine. Craig Schulman was always my favorite Valjean. Now Michael Cerveris as Javert, that would be incredible. How about Ana Gasteyer as Madame Thenardier?
A fan created a survey (link below). I've already answered it twice, but the rest of the answers are entertaining. I usually dislike fan surveys like this, but there are exceptions, I guess. Go see. :)
Thanks - I'll have to take that survey - but, just for the record on this thread - - I can think of no better Jean Valjean than J. Mark McVey. He kept the spark in it the last couple years it was on Broadway - even when some of the cast was tired - - he always delivered 110% and magnificently!
Jean Valjean- not sure Javert- Patrick Wilson Fantine- Alice Ripley (it would be so nice to see Alice back on Broadway where she belongs) Cosette- Laura Benanti/Kristen Chenowith, if Benanti does not work out (Benanti should and hopefully will be dropped or the producers of the musical "The Wedding Singer" will talk her into leaving!!!!! If so, she's my #1!!!) Eponine- Eden Espinosa Marius- Cheyenne Jackson Enjolras- not sure/find someone new and hot! Thenardier- Terrance Mann Mme. Thenardier- Mary Tessa
"All I want is the truth, just give me some truth!"- J. Lennon
Could Colin Hanlon play Marius? That man makes me want to swoon when he sings.
Now what would you say if today I started over?
Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover
And I'll pretend like everything is already alright
And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight
There's a difference in how old people ARE on broadway and how old they READ onstage. Eponine just needs someone that reads young.

Can Steven Pasquale please do something in this too? I almost don't care what, he's just so pretty.
I feel like a 12 year old when I watch him sing.

Back to the age thing, I was think about the oldest people I saw in certain roles. The oldest Eponine I have seen on stage was Ma-Anne Dionisio, I found out afterward that she was about 30 when I saw her play Eponine(Jan 04). Also, I have heard that Rich Affannato was in his thirties when he played Marius(I saw him in Oct 1997). However, both still looked young.
As for Kristen Cheoweth, in her younger days I think she would have made a good Cosette. She does have a high voice, that can be pleasing. I was impressed with Kristen in "The Music Man." Today though, I think Kristen would be a good Madame Thenardier, since she is great in comic roles, although she would be short for a Madame Thenardier.
Another possiblity for Eponine would be Marissa McGowan, who is the current U.S. tour understudy. I have heard such good things about her that I am hoping I do get to see her play Eponine when I see the tour in July.
Howzabout Hollywood IT boy Jake Gyllenhaal as MARIUS? Isn't he a showtune lover, a singer (who reportedly was up for the male lead in the MOULIN ROUGE film), and has yet to make his Broadway debut? He's already made his West End debut, why not make LES MIZ his Broadway bow?
