I hope not - I'm glad he has a following - but, I really don't care for how he does 'Bring Him Home' nor his portrayal of JVJ yes, this is JMO- I think - since its only 6 months - they need to get someone who is consistent in the depth of portrayal- and I believe they need someone who knows the role - To bring in someone new would be a disservice. I never saw Anthony Warlow or Craig Shulman - both of whom have been mentioned in this thread. But, I have seen J. Mark McVey numerous times and I've seen him in concert where they go crazy when he does Bring Him Home (and everything else he sings) - so, I repeat my desire for J. Mark McVey. He is truly awesome!
Valjean : Randal Keith Javert : Phillip (my friend thinks he is hott but he is too busy in Evita so I guess Terrence Mann or NORMAN LARGE!!!) Fantine: My Friend...or Ruthie Henshall, Factory Girl (the one who reads the letter) : Sandra Joseph Mdme. Thenadier: Aymee Garcia Thenadier : NORMAN LARGE!!! or James Romick - jk! about James Little Cosette : it doesn't matter Eponine : LEA SALONGA but she is pregnant or Diana Kaarina Marius : hugh panaro - but he is a little old soo...... MICHAEL SHAWN LEWIS!!! Cosette : Hmm....I don't know would Jill Paice do well
Just curious to those who want Randall Keith - have you seen anyone besides him? He was only on Broadway for a short time - but, has been with the tour for years - so, I'm just interested if any of those voting for RK have been able to see anyone else in the role. Please don't take this as a contentious question - it is merely curiousity.........
I saw Randal Keith on Broadway and thought he was increadible. However, his understudy was playing when I caught the tour and I was equally impressed with him.
I'd love to see an unknown play Valjean. In fact, I'd love to see unknowns in all the roles. Les Miz is the kind of show that can stand on its own two feet without a marquee name attached to it.

"Shut up! It's been 29 years!!!" --the incomparable Patti LuPone in her MUCH DESERVED Tony acceptance speech for Gypsy.
Kitzy's Avatar du Jour: Kitzy as Little Red Ridinghood in her college's production of "Into the Woods"
yes, I saw Ivan Rutherford in the role as well as Randal Keith and I also loved Rutherford's portrayal of the role as well.
<------ Me and my friends with patti Lupone at my friends afterparty for her concert with audra mcdonald during the summer of 2007.
"I am sorry but it is an unjust world and virtue is only triumphant in theatricle performances" The Mikado
ooo. Eden Espinosa as Eponine, I didn't think of that. That would be good. I saw her in Wicked when it was in San Francisco and she was amazing. I would love to hear her sing "On My Own"!
LET OTHERS RISE TO TAKE OUR PLACE UNTIL THE EARTH IS FREE!
Jean Valjean: Michael Ball Javert: Jonathan Pryce Fantine: Megan Hilty Cosette: Kelli O'Hara Eponine: Ashley Brown Marius: Gavin Creel Enjolras: Christopher Sieber Thénardier: Nathan Lane Madame Thénardier: Emily Skinner
I have seen Gregory Calvin Stone as Valjean, he was good too but I think I liked Randal better. I thought Randal was the slightly stronger actor/singer.
Good point about the age question and how old is too old to play certain characters. For Eponine, because of the way she is described in the book(how she looks older than she is) I think an actress in her thirties could get away with playing her as long as the actors who play the Thenardiers can be made to look old enough to be her parents, fourty would be probably be pushing it. Marius and Cosette should both look young.
well, I need to add my vote for J. Mark McVey. I have seen a few in the role - but, he definitely was the best- his vocal power/stage presence/awesome voice/acting ability - to me - was absolutely AWESOME! I was at his final performance in NYC and I don't think there was even SRO. The audience loved him.
