I keep hearing about the nudity in South Pacific. When does it even happen?
From the first page of the thread:
It happens right before "Gonna Wash That Man" when the showers are first rolled out onto stage. There is a man showering in each stall and when they come out they're naked. The see the women are there so they cover up their fronts and run off showing their bare butts to everyone.

Read the first page of this thread, darlin'. Eris explains very clearly when it happens.
Damn! Now I'm REALLY sorry I missed this!
If you attempt to use the search function somewhere on the board is a thread much like this one where we discussed the production as it was being aired. The fact that many of the comments were about Marc Kudisch and Nathan Gunn goes to show how much the actual production entertained us.
I had been in some contact with Patti Cohenour toward the end of the Light in the Piazza run, including the time when they were preparing for the broadcast. She said that they had extra rehearsal to accommodate 8 cameras (I'm almost positive she said it was that many). I believe she also said that they added extra lights and, on occasion, changed the staging to suit the cameras' needs. I remember she told me how they had been doing this show for so long but had to remember small changes (like a few extra steps forward or to turn to face a certain direction) and that they only had a couple rehearsals to learn the changes.

10 cameras, including backstage. The lighting, as I said, was adjusted for the cameras.
If anyone is interested, I just posted an article on Lincoln Center's website about my experience sitting in the broadcast control room last night during the test run of tonight's South Pacific broadcast.

Thanks for posting that, James. Sounds like it was an amazing experience! Will be watching tonight.
I wonder what the segment is during intermission.
WSRE here on the Gulf Coast is airing it live at 7PM and again at 1AM, which makes me happy because I'm working all night.

In their broadcast of The Light in the Piazza, the intermission was a bunch of short clips backstage, with actors discussing the show. The intermission (and the broadcast) can both be found on "that site". I would recommend you watch it if you haven't seen it yet.

This is not a pledge drive and they have nothing to offer as gifts. When PBS does pledge drive they offer a "Thank you" gift in return. They offer stuff that you can't get anywhere else like front row seats to concerts.
With South Pacific there is nothing to give. They can't give tickets since the show is closing on Sunday. No DVD to offer. Just the Cast Recording which is cheaper anywhere else.
Oooh, the PBS newshour is rolling their credits.
Did anyone ever hear from the poster who said they would be willing to make copies for people?

AHHH!! I'm soooooo excited! It's about to start!!! I have no idea why!
I will never tire of this overture
Ugh widescreen. There goes 1/3 of the show.
So there are 11 cameras. Thanks for posting that.
10 minutes into the broadcast, and I regret not seeing it live.

The PBS affiliate in Pittsburgh apparently decided not to air the show. UGH.
I STILL get chills watching that overture, and that orchestra! THAT ORCHESTRA! Ohh couldn't every Broadway show have one that size??? Pretty please???
Guess Matthew Morrison couldn't make it back for this telecast.
I love this show. I love that it's on my TV right now, and I can't wait to see its closing performance on Sunday afternoon... :o)
I do miss CHARLIE BRADY though. Wish he was in tonight's broadcast...

I love Danny Burstein in this role
js, it was already announced that he wouldn't be taking part.
musik, That overture is wonderful! I saw the National Tour and unfortunately people talked through it so I, and I am sure others, couldn't enjoy it as much as we would have liked to. And it wasn't as loud as other shows so I almost had to strain to hear it.
Do they show the stage moving over the orchestra in the broadcast? It doesn't come on here for another 25 minutes.
It wasn't easy to see the stage moving in the dark but they did film it.
