Thank God the signature is auto-pen or they’d be going ape s**t refunding all those pre-orders they couldn’t fill. 😝

Tickets for the Carnegie Hall tribute are damn expensive.

I wasn’t too too bothered by them. More than Hello, Dolly!, but a lot less than what I paid for Follies. Half an hour in and there’s still plenty sub-$100 tickets available. I do think my expectations for this concert are incredibly high and I’m hoping for an A++ cast.
I’m just glad the queue was well managed. I think I still have PTSD from the Chorus Line Actors Fund benefit! 😂

Really? I paid $99 for a beautiful orchestra seat for Follies. Can't afford $300-450 to sit on the floor for this, especially when we don't know who is performing or if Liza will show. They also changed "signed copy" to just "copy," which I guess isn't a surprise at this point. I settled for a nosebleed which was still pretty expensive.
I'm hoping for Joel Grey and Ben Vereen to make appearances.

I just looked through my email, and I paid about $60 for upper balcony for Dolly, but $500 for back orchestra for Follies. Not sure about the pricing on the latter, but it was definitely worth it! I went with about a $200 ticket for a mid level.
I didn’t notice the change from a signed copy, but I’m kinda surprised given that it’s basically been proven at this point they were either autopen or signed by other people. Seems silly to change it now. But also I didn’t really care about the physical book, so obviously not a dealbreaker.

Mine says “still awaiting fulfillment “. Very shady.

I've always assumed that the signature in the book I got at the Million Dollar Theater is a fake.
Liza's Signature Doubted

It’s likely very true that “all books were signed by the author” - because the author is Michael Feinstein.
Just like the book itself, Liza authorized Michael ‘to do what he needs to do’. This is essentially an authorized signature done by Michael and his team.
The only surprise to me was seeing autographs actually on the page - my two copies from Million Dollar Theater were on large blank stickers that I stuck inside.

The signature issue is the latest example of the same problem. Liza and Michael Feinstein told one story about the Oscars for years. The producers forced her into a wheelchair. In the book she claims Lady Gaga engineered the whole thing to harm her. She also says she would never allow AI to use her voice, yet the audiobook is obviously AI generated. Put it all together, and there is a pattern of dishonesty there. I have supported her for decades, but the last six months have made one thing clear. I think she is a liar, and I do not believe most of the stories in the book.

Yeah, I was hesitant from the jump about buying a signed copy of her book and now I'm glad I didn't. I kept meaning to, but just didn't pull the trigger.

Liza has not said anything about anything, a number of statements have been attributed to her. There's really no reason to doubt the stories in the book (for the most part), but her current state makes it clear that SOMEONE is taking advantage for financial gain and not with her wellbeing in mind. Its a tarnishment of her image by those around her and you should be mad about that, not at her. It smells of elder abuse.

It’s baffling how her memoir clearly states on the cover that she didn’t write it yet people keep referring to things she wrote in her memoir.

“As told to Michael Feinstein” doesn’t change anything. It’s still her memoir and it still presents her account. Having someone shape the material doesn’t make her a passive bystander. She approved it, attached her name to it and is promoting it as her life story. Treating that phrasing as if it disconnects her from the content is a stretch.

Am I correct to assume that all other book events that were cancelled with the promise of rescheduling are not happening?

It’s safe to assume they’re never happening. Everyone has since moved on. I feel her LIZA AT 80 tribute at Carnegie Hall will be her last bit of promoting this memoir. The event was wise enough to remove the “signed copies” wording regarding the books being given out that night. Initially it was on the ticket buying page when tickets first went on sale.

This is all just an unfortunate, graceless way for Liza's last years to play out.

It's easier for me to say this, I guess, since I neither bought tickets nor the book, but if it's given her pleasure to let someone do this book for her and for her to make a few public appearances, I don't begrudge her any of it. There's no way to know if the stories in the book are untrue. I rather doubt it, though much like Lady Sings the Blues (which for years was treated as largely fabrication, until better scholarship revealed more truth to it than most had thought), there may be issues of memory or what the person assembling the material chooses to emphasize.
I think the woman's life is, and for decades upon decades has been, a mess, so it isn't suprising the book and everything around its promotion is a mess. But I don't think she acting out of any ill-will or desire to cheat her public. She may indeed have believed she could record the book, sign copies herself, do multiple appearances, until confronted with reality and her simple inablity to fulfill her obligations. Wouldn't be the first time.
