I just got back, and I'm very glad that I went.
Yes, Liza is frail, but it's still LIZA!
She sang "Our Love Is Here to Stay," which thrilled me!

She was quick with a sarcastic, “oh this is great!” when a video clip was delayed, LOL. God, love this woman. Glad I went as well. Nothing but sweetness and love coming from her. She seemed to have a good time and the audience had all the love to give. They had professional cameras setup, but also dozens of people recording the entire thing on their phones.
Michael isn’t a good moderator for this…which is weird, all things considering. It almost felt like he hadn’t figured out what questions to ask or how, despite mentioning that they went over these topics backstage.
The night started about thirty minutes late. The less mentioned about the finale the better. Some really touching moments - but I’m biased as this was my first time ever seeing her in person. From my view it seemed like 90% full? Whether actually “sold” out or not, I don’t think it really matters.

I was standing on the sidewalk when they were doing their best to get Liza in her car. It was heartbreaking.
When she finally got settled in the backseat, she looked at me. I waved and blew her a kiss. She smiled and did the same back.
I teared up.

Happy to hear these reports, I was worried that she was being wheeled out and kinda used and abused.

I was hoping they had managed an alternate way of her getting out unseen. I walked by what seemed like an exit and noticed a wheelchair ramp, have no idea if it was for her - but I had seen everything I needed so didn’t opt for a stage door.

Sorry to double post, but I almost forgot - she said “I got my balls from my mother” and that will stay with me forever.

Absolutely, Giants!
I will never forget her saying that.
Also, the rewritten ending to "Fly Me to the Moon."

One of the unexpected benefits of going to one of the few book events she's doing is it's the only way to be absolutely certain you're not listening to AI.

Actually, Jonathan, AI made an appearance: excerpts from the audio book were played at tonight's event.

An event like this would not really be for me, but there's something really beautiful about the relationship between Liza and her fans. Nmartin's story is kinda heartbreaking.

Unnecessarily cruel writing.

I agree that the write up is cruel, but I also feel like a lot of what the people around her right now are doing to her is cruel. Making her do these live events are especially cruel when you're surrounding her in clips of her in her prime, and an audiobook you created with AI because she doesn't have the ability do any of that anymore. They and the book publisher should be ashamed.

What's cruel? We can all see it. The piece didn't insult her, and everyone knows this is a person of advanced age who has been through a lot. Nothing seemed mean-sprited. There often seems to be an emperor's new clothes effect with Liza.

Individuals with a disability or in decline do not need to be hidden, unless that is their wish. If Liza wants to be out and about then god bless her. She has love to give and so do her fans.
After this appearance thought it is abundantly clear she did not record the audiobook and she did not sign thousands of books so perfectly. The signed option should not have been offered since they are most likely autopen.

I dont think she needs to be hidden, but she should be treated with respect towards her and her current abilities. Let her do all the interviews she wants. Trotting her out live in front of 2000 people where she doesn't have control over how she appears is cruel. There is just so much dishonesty being put out by her handlers claiming it's coming from her that I don't trust that Liza empathically wanted to do this event or that she wants to fly across the country to do it again in NY.

This. She's 80 years old and has had a lot of health issues over the years. Of course she doesn't seem like the Liza from 1972.

I like to think these events will spark some joy for her, let her know she is still valued, and perhaps make her feel like she’s in her prime again. If only for a moment.
I do have a ticket for next Monday though, so it suits me to not feel complicit. I really hope Feinstein does care enough about Liza to not put her in harm’s way. ☹️

I’ll say this - when they started the first audiobook clip, Liza and Michael looked at each other for a minute with knowing grins on their faces.
I think we can unknowingly make Liza a tragedy in the same way Judy was made to be at times. I believe, after attending this event, that she is likely aware of how things are going down. She likely knows she didn’t do the audiobook herself, but she’s happy with the end result. Doing it today with her vocal state, would probably require more work than anyone involved desires. Is it possible that she herself is content with ElevenLabs doing the audiobook? That she’s pleased with this version of her voice and has authorized its usage? Just because we don’t agree with certain decisions doesn’t mean they weren’t authorized by her.
I guess it all goes into the deeper territory of ‘are they of sound mind to make these decisions with all factors involved’ - I’m just saying that it could very well be that Liza wanted one more celebratory run with her fans and do as much as possible. She seemed really truly, touched at the reception at the end of the evening. Not everything has to be a conspiracy theory.
I know I was skeptical earlier in thread - but I now see it as Liza being on board to do this and everyone around her trying to make it happen while also being realistic with what is best for her and what she is capable of doing at this time. Maybe I’m naive. The night didn’t have an exploitative vibe at all, and any moments where Liza trailed off, or didn’t really answer a question, made an unrelated sidebar, etc - were handled respectfully. This wasn’t a Franki Valli situation where everyone in the room is uncomfortable and feeling guilty for attending. It was a lovely evening.
Get a ticket for one of her upcoming appearances and see for yourself.

And I don't mind if she is and chose do it, but putting out a statement 6 weeks prior stating "What I will not allow this great company to do? Create, clone or copy my voice!” is inherently dishonest. Someone's lying.

Maybe Liza changed her mind. Who knows? It's always so easy to speculate on things we know nothing about. And - does it really matter? :)

This sounds right to me. Where is the evidence she doesn't know what's happening or doesn't approve? Just because more able people around her are present at these events or are handling affairs doesnt mean she doesn't approve.
She's doing the interviews, sitting in hair and makeup, and promoting the book. She's at the event where they're playing clips of the audiobook. If she didn't know it had happened and didn't approve, wouldn't she say something? Where is the evidence she is being abused and has no idea what's going on, even as she's at event promoting the things people are claiming she doesn't approve of.
I guess the official story is this book was written from tapes of chats she had with Michael over the course of 12 years, so he could write a book. That sounds like a lot of consent over the course of years.
