I should add, to me, the lies about the audiobook and autopen seem to be in line with the woman who was in self (and public) denial about a lot of things over the years, as she says in the book.
It's as if the official version of events in her life and the truth have not frequently parted ways.

When will we know more about the event at the Streicker Center? It seems to be sold out, but at which venue? What does "reserved seating" mean, is it a guaranteed decent seat? Should I get there early for a good one?
Edit… oh wait, the reserved access area is sold out, but "few remaining tickets" left for general admission

The official page for the event states that you will receive notification of which venue the day before via email.

Oh, right, thank you. I think I knew that. I'm starting to believe it's actually gonna happen. I'm leaving for the Big Apple tomorrow… it better! 😀

I have been thinking about Liza ever since I saw her Tuesday night at the Million Dollar Theatre.
I truly hope that the night emphasized to her the solid fan base (albeit aging) that she still has.
I don't really care that the autograph in the book was autopen or whatever.
What I care about is that I saw Liza for the first time in 35 years!
It meant a great deal to me.

Just received an email. Liza cancelled. They've already refunded. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I've never seen her in person

☹️
Just as I arrived in New York. Just as I let myself believe it was gonna happen.
It’s okay. I knew it might. I'll cope. I’m still gonna make the most of my time here and see shows I might otherwise have missed.
I still love Liza.

Exactly - enjoy your time in NYC. It's beyond your control, and Liza's health is the most important thing. Enjoy seeing your shows.

I was so surprised she was doing in-person events in the first place and planning to travel to New York for this.

I love Liza. Someone save her from Michael Feinstein.

The video of her leaving the theatre and people trying to get her into the car is shameful. Absolutely shameful. Whoever is coordinating her care and transportation should be fired. First, she deserved a private exit, even if it meant staff holding up blankets or creating a wall between her and people and cameras on the street.
Second, they needed people trained in transfers assisting her out of the chair and into the car. Sickening.
Feinstein is the worst. Pimping her out like this.

You're a mensch. I feel like a lot of people gave you grief over your hesitation to purchase tickets and airfare for this event because you've been burned--was it twice?--before. "Liza doesn't cancel!" and the like was heard a lot here, despite the fact that you've had to deal with her cancelling before. Your admiration for her and understanding of her difficulties says a lot about you.

Aw, thanks Joe.
I’m still having a fab time in NY… saw Ragtime last night, John Cameron Mitchell in Oh Mary on Friday evening followed by a jazz set at the Village Vanguard, with other things planned to bring me joy and lift my spirits. It’s definitely a downer, but I know it's a first world problem!
Commiserations to my fellow disappointees.

There has been a lot of criticism of Michael Feinstein's handling of all this - the book, the promotional tour, etc. And it may be warranted. It may be self-serving and a money grab, and/or taking advantage of Liza.
But the other possibility is that he's genuinely trying to support Liza and help her to still feel relevant and loved, as she has so much of her life. Due to health and other issues, I suspect she has felt isolated and unimportant, and she may miss the public adoration and the feeling that she is still capable of creative expression. It could be that all of this - the memoir, the public appearances - is at the request of Liza and, out of his devotion to her, he is helping to facilitate it.
I have a dear friend who is just about Liza's age who is in a period of tremendous physical and cognitive decline. She was never famous like Liza, but she was a powerful and important person within her sphere, and she still wants to appear publicly and make connections with people in order to feel vital and appreciated. So I often take her out to events where she struggles to navigate the spaces, articulate what she wants to say, etc. And I often find myself doing what I see Michael doing - helping to clarify what she's saying or trying to contextualize things so people can follow her disjointed thoughts. It's not fun to have to do that, but out of my love for her, I do my best to make it happen.
If Michael is doing this against Liza's wishes, or consciously trying to make himself more important or wealthier through these actions, it's a terrible betrayal. But unless we know otherwise, I'd like to think that maybe he's doing it all out of his genuine love for her, and to help fulfil her wishes. And I hope her experience of being in the public again, of hearing the adoration of her fans, is bringing her joy.

TheatreAddict, I LOVE your post!
It articulates my uncertainty about Feinstein's motivation. Of course, I hope that everything he does is out of devotion to Liza.
I am distressed by Bettyboy72's post that someone has posted Liza's exit from the Million Dollar Theatre. I was on the sidewalk when she left and my first thought was, There is no way in hell I'm filming or photographing this.

Thank you for sharing your story, TheatreAddict.
Personally I see no evidence that Liza doesn’t know what’s going on. And on the contrary, she seems to be happy to be there and happy to promote the book.
So, as sad as it is to watch her in this shape, I don’t see the evidence this is all Michael’s doing.

Well if Michael is the “friend” he claims to be he’d NEVER allow her dignity and safety be compromised. I want Liza to be out there and feeling loved if she so chooses. However, ensure her dignity and safety.
There’s a chance that Gaga saw that awful makeshift directors chair atop a shoddy wooden plank on rollers and said, “Hell no.” That’s a caring person. That contraption looks precarious at best. A fall for Liza could end so much.
